Even when the weather takes a turn for the worse here in the Keweenaw, the beauty of the scenery shines right on through. Taana Kalliainen was able to capture that for all of us to see, during a recent weather event near the Portage Lake Lower Entry Light, out by White City. That's definitely some dark, threatening skies, surrounding the lighthouse and pier and in the second photo, making that little island look a bit eerie, lit up by the sun with the sky so dark behind it. The seagulls didn't seem to be to worried about what the weather might do, as they swooped and swirled around, so white against the backdrop of the darkened horizon.

WOW!! Love that last picture!! Love the first one too because I love anything with a lighthouse!!

This is the storm that blew through last week and while it didn't drop any rain on us, it just thundered quite a bit. I did hear that Zeba got rain and hail when it passed through there.

I wonder if the first picture was taken from a boat or from the shore at the little village of (lower) Portage Entry.

If you look close at the picture with the seagull in it (3rd one with the tree) it looks like there is an aircraft or another bird up to the left of the tree. Or maybe its something else?????
