On this day...none.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 09:32 am:

Alex, I think Charlie meant on this "date" five years in a row.;>

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 09:47 am:

I question the 2002 photo, Memories of Dad. How do we know it was taken on June 16?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 10:36 am:

Maybe because Father's Day was on June 16th 2002.

By Richard Wieber (Dickingrayling) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 01:27 pm:

Shirley-----You are right on the ball; Fathers Day was on the 16th of June in 2002.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 02:18 pm:

grin ;) Did you check it out on the internet like I sneakingly did, Richard?

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 03:03 pm:

This was the post from prior cam notes - June 16, 2002:

"This is a picture of me and my father, Al Witt, stopping at the Cut River Bridge on the way north. This would be around 1961"

No date as to when the picture was taken, only the year, "around 1961." Hence, the question: How do we know it was taken on June 16? (CSI - Troy, MI)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 04:07 pm:

Little off topic, but today the Dr. and I visited the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences new Hall of Paleontology for the first time since it opened and what a marvelous display of dinosaurs, reptiles, and other prehistoric life. Below is a photo of a Great Ground Sloth skeleton. Just for scale, the skeleton is about 12 ft. tall! (the photo obviously does not do this thing any justice....)

Watching TV, Alex and trying to find CSI - Troy, MI. I think I must have found it because all I see so far is you on your Harley and a big catch of walleye in your saddle bags along with all of the forensic tools, like the filet knife, the Shore Lunch and the brewskis.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 04:21 pm:

Beats me, Alex.....no 'guessing' on that one.

Capt. Paul, I wouldn't have wanted to meet that on a dark night, nor daylight either.:) Are all of those 'real' bones found at one place?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 04:28 pm:

WOW Capt! I bet that was right up yours and Nat's alleys!! I'm with Shirley, though.

Was looking at the slideshow again (which I often times go back to do) and was wondering if the 2010 picture was taken at Esrey???
Mary says: Yes, it was, Deb.

Was also wondering if you took that picture in Houghton after we met at the Ambassador with the good Capt. and his wife, Mary????
Mary says: I could have, but really now, do you expect me to remember where I was and what I was doing 3 years ago? I have trouble remembering 3 days ago! ;->

By Richard Wieber (Dickingrayling) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 05:16 pm:

Shirley---No, I didn't use the internet. Because they have become my memory boosters, I save calenders upon which I've posted happenings.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 05:35 pm:

Most museums don't use real bones anymore Shirley, mainly because of the "value" of having such bones for scientific study in the first place, but also because of the immense weight one skeleton alone would be. Although, the Houston display does contain one all bone T-Rex skeleton on display. In addition to the skeletons on display here, they have also done a great job of providing artist's renditions of the what the current thought is as to what these magnificent creatures may have looked like; below is what we believe the Great Ground Sloth may have looked like:

Hmmm, I wonder how someone gets a Harley out of "UP-Goldwinger"??? (must be some potent brewskies, eh Alex?? ;-)

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 05:43 pm:

Happy Birthday Terry, miss you...

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 06:01 pm:

Capt Paul, I was wondering the same thing...UP Goldwinger, connected to a Harley Davidson? I need more Brewskis too!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 06:08 pm:

Must have me confused with JT, although I have been known to carry fish in my saddlebags, just in case.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 08:20 pm:

Guess what, Richard, I also save calenders! However at the time it was easier for me to check the internet than to hobble downstairs with my cane.:-]
Thanks, Capt., that's interesting, but boy! what an ugly creature!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, June 16, 2012 - 08:23 pm:

You guys are too funny. Huge difference between the two bikes for sure!
