Good morning from Bethel where it's 46 degrees. In the South, this is referred to as 'blackberry winter'.

Still think the Duck Lake fire should have been handled better than the Seney fire. Too many people living in the Duck Lake area, the Seney area was a wildlife refuge.

With the speed at which this fire spread and the heat that it generated it really is miraculous that no lives were lost. Evacuation was the first priority. Many media have reported on the positive support the fire fighters are receiving from the local population. Many people have made signs thanking the personnel. Here is an interesting story about the DNR fire detection pilot who first discovered the fire.
