Here we are at the end of another month, setting aside this day to honor and remember our loved ones and friends that have gone on before us. It's our way of keeping them in our hearts and in our memory. This month we remember:

In memory of my boxer dog Matty, who died 5 years ago this month.

Thinking about my grandmother Durocher, who died this month in 1972. I so loved that woman!! But then, I loved all of my grandparents!

Remembering our parents Norman and Helen Pooley, Ed and Sophie Kuusisto, Aunt Lyle Pooley, our sister in law and dear friend Phyllis Kuusisto, Karen Kuusisto, Janet Trasti, our good buddy Nitz Kumpula, our nephew “The Chief” Churchill, our sweet niece Rosie Churchill, Our niece Bailey Hartmann, our brother in law and friend Wayne Hartmann our sister and best friend Flo Hartmann and our dear sweet baby girl Annie Kuusisto.

In loving and sad memory of my sweet husband, with whom I would have celebrated 58 years together on the 5th of June. Time doesn't heal.

When one leaves for the stars, that person will be the one to blink at you in the night-sky and show you the way. While s/he will no longer be able to touch your hands s/he will forever be able to touch your heart.

Thinking about my husband Dan Byykkonen and missing him in this-our wedding anniversary month.

In memory of my friend's son, Anthony Foulk. Who died all too soon at the age of 18 this month. Our prayers are with the Foulk family during this very hard time.

Thirty seven years ago my heart and soul was ripped in half. So manys years ago but it feels just like yesterday. Some wounds seem healed until some small happening tears it open again. I miss you son!

Laura Black is my niece, my sister Karen's oldest daughter. She was such a nice girl. She had leukemia, with chemo. She was 46 years old.
Really feel bad for the families.

A late entry on the June memorial list above. We just learned this evening of the passing of Frank Pontello. The Pontello family has a long history with Eagle River, and we send condolences to Frank's family.

Another late addition to the June Memorial was Norma Raymond, beloved wife and mother who has been a regular summer resident in the Keweenaw for many years. She will be missed by family and friends.

Thank you so much Mary for putting Laura's name down. She was a wonderful person. We miss her so much.

That was nice of her, Pennie.

I made a mistake thinking it was May for crying out loud. That's when my grandma D passed away, not June. I don't know for sure if there's anybody close to me who passed away in June, so I was thinking about Pennie's sister-in-law!
