In the last week and a half the daily Pasty Cam has been delayed three times because of weather complications. A week ago Thursday we had some amazing winds steak over the Keweenaw Peninsula, and Bill Howard at Sunset Bay Campground captured the front as it moved through. At another campground - Gitche Gumee in Eagle River - I got a sample of the result when the winds had a sudden burst... which is exactly what some of the tree trunks did.

Then this week there was an evening of fireworks accross the region, with lightning wiping out a number of power transformers. Each time this type of thing happens overnight, it causes the Pasty Cam to be late the next morning, as I'm usually out trying to get our Pasty.NET broadband system back online.

It's a beautiful region to live in, and has some challenges that make life interesting.

Storms can be very damaging.

WOW!! That wall cloud is spectacular! Storm clouds make for some pretty amazing pictures. Wish they didn't cause so much damage!!

Great shots!

It looks like an enormous foot about to stomp on whatever is in its way. Wee've had some good storms here in Emmet County, unfortunately all while I was at work in the basement. Missed them all, but the Bear River is still flowing high and brown into Little Traverse Bay from all the overflow upstream.

Impressive wall cloud in the first picture!

What an fearsome sight in the first photo! I would've been headin' for the hills!!
Charlie, you do a great job on this site, regardless of what you have to contend with, weatherwise. I salute you!

That is quite the cloud. Boy, that tree just let loose...wow!

A long time ago, a friend of mine and I went up to the Mouth of the Gratiot to pick agates. Gin says "Donna...look" and there was a cloud coming like in the first picture. We ran for the car and sat out the storm and went back out to pick agates. A while later, a gal on a 4 wheeler comes by and says "Is that your car? You aren't getting out of here...there's a tree down across the road".....THANKFULLY, there's a ton of tough Yoopers that cruise no matter what, and a truck was able to winch out the tree.....What an adventure...
