How old was Douglas Houghton when he drowned off the shore near Eagle River?

Looking up his obituary puts him at 36 when he died but the sign says 37.

It was in his 37th year, but he had just passed his 36th birthday.

I agree with Bruce. Douglas Houghton, was born Sep. 21, 1809 and died Oct. 13, 1845.

Shirley no that's an Iowa Groundhog my daughter happened to get a close picture of over the weekend. She took the picture after last week there was a story in our newspaper about some guy and his wife living by the Mississippi River were arrested for intoxication and bringing their pet zebra and macaw into the tavern with them. She joked about the groundhog was on the way to this tavern too.

Hollidays, thanks for the update. It made the local (Cincinnati) news today.

My youngest brothers' birthday is June 1st., he turned 48 yrs. old, which is true. He passed away July 8th., of the same year, which is also true. So, that made him 49 years old when he died?

Capt, no punch line it really happened. Some guy and his wife went to the tavern and brought the "kids" with them, a baby zebra and a macaw parrot. They just couldn't leave them home alone.

mickill mouse: No, but it's true he died in his 49th year. Your first year begins at birth and ends on your first birthday, and so on.... The sign in the picture is wrong.

I know janie. We heard about it on the local news here and thought there has to be a Jay Leno/Letterman joke in there someplace.....
