Congratulations John and Deb. Seems I just can't make it on time for the 'prize', even got up early this morning (5:00am) because I had to drag my garbage out to the road, and while I was doing that I heard tires squeal and a 'thud' then the loud honking of a goose. After it got daylight I looked down the road and saw that it was a goose that had gotten hit...probably one of the pair that nests on my pond every year. Much rather it had been a deer....so sad because a lonely goose is without its mate now. :(

Shirley, that is so sad. Had the same experience only it was ducks. The female got hit by a car and the male sat by her for days. We finally picked him up and put him in our pond. He kept looking and looking for his mate. I think he finally died of a broken heart. Wish us humans had love like that.
As for the pears, I don't think the Yoopers need them for making maple syrup. :)
