Mike Schneider sure knows how to live. He starts the morning for us on Sand Point in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, enjoying the rising of the sun as it lights the frost on the beach grass and brightens the sandy shores of Superior. All three of his photos today transport us to that beach, and bring a sense of quiet, calm beauty. Perfect way to start the week, I'd have to say.

On the marine tracker--Lake Superior most be rough. There is one boat in Beta Griese. and several in Thunder Bay. Lower lakes are busy some Huron and lots in Erie

Joann - it's hairy on the big lake today. Northeast gusts up near 40 mph and SNOW!!!!! Weren't we over that?

No snow here in Lansing, but the wind is blowing like crazy with some rain at 55 degrees. The forecast calls for a wind advisory until 10 pm with current winds in the 30-35 mph range with occasional gusts to 60 mph. Not a good hat (or hair) day.

Appreciate the comments!...amazing how the weather does change in a week, a day, and even an hour. It was 56 degrees with a light breeze this morning and now... its 23 and SNOW covered with a bit of wind. I just posted a quick video of Lake Superior from this afternoon on my link!
