Here in the Copper Country, we don't let a little snow, slow us down when it comes to hanging laundry out to dry. Joe Kirkish gives us a glimpse of a few of the wintry clotheslines he's captured, including several that were hung out to dry and must have gotten caught in a snowstorm. Interesting concept, freeze dried clothes. I know the past few days, with the sun warming things up so much, I've been tempted to hang the sheets out to dry, but I'd first have to either shovel a path or put my snowshoes on, so I wouldn't sink in the snow. It would probably be worth it, though, to have those sheets smelling outdoor fresh again. :->

Is the broom standing due to the solar flare that just happened? Seems the solar flares had a effect on brooms in that way. Saw a lot of pictures of brooms standing on their own. haha!

Won't be long Mary,,
We will have Summertime in the U.P., the air will be still and thick with the oxygen-rich exhaust of photosynthesis...running full tilt!

Funny pictures. Those are some hard core Yoopers there!

That is some powerful medication JT :-)
Don't those people worry about bulls? I saw a lot of pictures of bulls attacking red hanging clothing during solar flare-ups.

And it's free Alex! Good times! lol! My daughter took a picture of a broom standing unassisted in the middle of a room at a dance hall where she was. I don't know how to post it here.

By Dale Beitz (Dbeitz) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 08:09 am:

Nah, the broom standing is a equinox/solstice thing. Nothing to do with solar flares. (grin)

Red flannel underwear? Time to put them away until next winter? (:o)

By Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 08:48 am:

Hi
My mom has hung clothes that became freeze dried, but never went through snow to do it (it was a case of chilly early and warming later). What she has done throughout the winter is to use drying laundry, on racks in the house, as a way to combat dry air indoors in winter.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 09:25 am:

Looks like a lot of folks are proud of their red 'long-handle underwear'.:> (<that's a Southern play on words....meaning 'long-flannel')

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 09:50 am:

Heard the phrase 'long-handled' a few times. Didn't know it was exclusive southern. But I've hung many a piece of laundry out that froze. Have even brought them in held like a slab of something. OH THE FABULOUS SMELL!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 10:22 am:

Kay, maybe it's not exclusively southern, but since I'm from there, that's the first and only place I heard it. :) I agree, nothing like the 'smell' of outside dried laundry, frozen or not. Plus, they're static-free!

By Bob Williams (Wabbit) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 11:08 am:

Dale...the broom standing is an equinox/solstice thing but the solar flares made them turn upside down.

Does anyone remember the song about Bill Grogan's Goat in the John Thompson piano book? He ate three red shirts right off the line (Right off the line . . .)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 04:33 pm:

Yeah, I have, Marge, but sorta sad 'cause "he was bound to die".;) And hey, I have several of the Thompson piano books.

By Just me (Jaby) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 04:54 pm:

I just do not possess the sisu to do that...Its 5 minutes of fluffing in the dryer-then hanging in the basement during the winter..Great pics anyway!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 05:20 pm:

I remember Bill Grogan's Goat. I had to play that when I was learning to play the piano.

Seeing the laundry hanging up outside reminds me of a story I read online, a true story, that is absurd. The absurdity is that Tide liquid detergent has become like liquid gold, and is being stolen just like drugs, and some places are contemplating locking it up like they do cold and flu medicines? That's scary!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 - 08:35 pm:

Good grief, Marianne, that is totally stupid, isn't it? What won't people think of next?!? I guess I'm safe, I buy the powder.;)
