Good Morning. 2008 is definitely an old mining photo. 2002 is snow rollers, which could possibly have something to do with mining?

The kids' snow dances here in mid-Michigan apparently worked, as the area has a snow day today. Actually, the brunt of the storm moved north of the expected area of Detroit. And, it's apparently called the Saskatchawan Storm, or something to that effect, lol?

Edited to add: Ms Katie, it sounds like you got your wish afterall. The Illinois kids' snow dances were heard, too, apparently.

Congratulations, Deb and Alex! Try for two shoes next time, Alex.;)
I'm like Janie, I love pics with horses in 'em.
Ahem...here's the "p" I left out of 'photography' on the other page.:]

The Nuthatch photo is neat, too. Interesting how the birds downstate seem to flock to the feeders as soon as there is snow in the air. Today, with a couple inches of snow on the ground, it's been a treat to watch them feeding. :-)

I know this has nothing to do with today's conversation but, thought I would post it anyway. Got it from a very good friend and thought about Yooper Joe when I read it.

Just A Dog
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog". They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog.

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog. Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phrases like; "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise".

"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a dog", I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog", but that which gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man or woman". So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog" just smile... because they "just don't understand".

There is a saying to the effect that we should try to be as wonderful a person as our pets think we are.

Shirley, here's a website I think you will enjoy! These people are really nice and like me very into Miniature Horses. They have mares that will be foaling soon and they have a cam set up so you can watch their mares. Go to the website, click on foals, then you will see the blue here, click on here, give it a few seconds to come up. SBarPMiniatureHorses

I saw a sign on a church one time that said, "Are you really that nice? Or are you just trying to impress God?" Hmmm. Had seen the one about trying to be the man my dog thinks I am as a prayer.
