By Diana P. (Diana) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 09:28 am:

Should have been the other way around : E. Neil Harri and Dan Urbanski!

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 09:28 am:

Double is 2011 and triple is 2010, but I'm guessing what you mean.

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 09:30 am:

Boy, was I off! I saw double wolves and triple kids. lol

By Diana P. (Diana) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 09:33 am:

I would give you credit for that thinking, Cindy! Makes sense to me. :-)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 09:38 am:

My daughter is near the Dubuque, Ia. area with her fiancee' Jason, at his parents farm witnessing calving season. One cow had twins last night. Brings back so many wonderful memories for me growing up when my dad's cows were calving! It never got boring!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 09:58 am:

Well Janie, looks like Jason is getting your daughter ready to be a farm wife. In my opinion that has the makings of a beautiful life. I love the farmlands of Iowa, an absolutely picturesque state!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 10:02 am:

Shirley, she's no stranger to calving, lambing, or foaling season. I kept her out of school many times here on the farm just so she could experience it first hand. :)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 10:11 am:

Good Morning. We awoke to a winter wonderland here in mid-Michigan. Cindy, if I had a vote, you would have an Early Bird, too. I think there should be a double Early Bird. Have a good Saturday, all.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 10:38 am:

That's the difference in growing up on a farm as opposed to semi-city living, Janie. My southern pristine mama would've sent me on a errand during times such as that.;-) But I would have loved living on a farm, for many reasons.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 11:33 am:

Nice pictures. I loved the wolves resting and the kids sledding.

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 04:40 pm:

Didn't want to post negative thoughts so I thought I would update you all on Yooper Joe;
He's doing real good, he gets his stitches out this Wednesday and then the fun begins. We are just so happy that we have him for a little while.

Cindy, don't feel bad, I thought the same thing.

Still have been invaded with snowmobilers, makes us smile to see people enjoying the UP snow, what's left of it.

Some people have said that this is just a mild winter but the Ma & Pa motel owners have told us it's been bad for the last 4 years.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 05:34 pm:

Uplifted to hear the latest on your little sweetie Yooper Joe, Hollidays, so let the fun begin, and enjoy your time together!:)

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 07:40 pm:

It's great to be back in the UP. We looked for, but did not see
the mushers along the Seney stretch as we drove in today. We
had whitefish chowder for lunch at the Vierling in Marquette,
supper at the Congress in Ishpeming, and will have breakfast at
Buck's in Ishpeming before going to church at Faith Lutheran
tomorrow morning. I always feel more at peace with the world
here. Hoping to see the stars tonight like they can't be seen in
big cities like Toronto and Detroit. Best of all is to be with
family. It doesn't get better than that for me.

It's Family Day weekend in Ontario this weekend, so that's why
we're here in the UP with family.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 08:03 pm:

Happy you get to be with your daughter and her family, Kosk. I know what you mean. Family is everything, which is why it would be so hard for me to leave MN. All of my children and grandchildren are here. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have access to the grandchildren whenever I wanted to. They make the world so much brighter. Enjoy your time:)
