We have said much about many good places... But the best places of all we have never mentioned. This would be a good day to take a 'Sunday Drive' and revisit at least one.

Taking a road trip to Dubuque, IA. today.

The snowshoe racers jogged a memory and I wonder if
anyone can help fill it in. I started LL
Kindergarten in 1938. Somewhere in my early
elementary years we went to school and then school
dismissed and everyone went to the area of the ice
rink (current senior apartments) and the sand bank
(current trailer/camper park) There were activities
such as ski races (cross country on the sand
bank)and snow shoe races. I am sure there was more
but I was only 6 or so and memories fade. Any one
who can fill in the blanks?

God speed in your travels today, Janie and Bob!
BTW, love your profile photo.:) I figured it would either be horses, snowmobiles, or Brimley and Brody.;>

Hi. I hope the roads that Janie travels today are better today than I-75 just south of US 10 was on Friday late afternoon. There was ice and blowing snow, resulting in a 65-car pileup. It even included a Midland Public Schools bus and pickup, a Budweiser truck/trailer, and the list goes on. Thank heavens there were no kids on the school bus. The bus was being brought back to Midland after having maintenance in Saginaw. Honestly, I don't remember ever having so many cars piled up this far north. They didn't have enough wreckers to clear off the road, so the State Police just had most of the vehicles towed to the side of the road, so they could reopen the northbound lanes of the highway. As it was, they were shutdown for 3-1/2 hours. In the past, there have been fog problems both in Oakland County and on I-94 and I-96 before, but not any resulting in pileups like that that I can remember up here.

Anyway, safe travels, Janie, and all who travel today!

Jim (jhattica):
I wonder if you might have known my late wife who graduated from LL in 1954. Her name was Carolyn Kahler?
