Lindsay White, along with her family and friends, went on a snowshoe hike this past weekend on Owl Creek, near Eagle Harbor and vicinity. It sure looks like they had a good time and according to Lindsay, the kids were "troopers", climbing up and down everything, with no complaints, because they were loving it. The littlest trooper (in pink), was pulled on the sled part of the time, but the terrain was pretty rough, so even she walked a good portion of the way. You can see in the second photo, that they were able to walk right on the creek for part of the trek, because of the snow cover and Lindsay said, that's where they discovered there is algae in the winter months also.
The bottom photo is a tunnel they had to crawl through, that goes under the road. They decided going through the tunnel was better than the steep climb up the hill on the side they were on. What a great adventure for the kids... being outside, exploring with their folks and learning about nature in the winter months.

Looks like a fun, family day!!! I envy people who can be out in the freezing weather without getting cold down to the bone. Fun pictures!

What a fun family and friends winter excursion! Bet they had hot chocolate to warm them up when they got back home. Neat photos to remember the day, too. :-)

That second photo gives me the 'willies'...looks like the youngsters are in a precarious spot. Guess nothing happened, otherwise we wouldn't be enjoying these wonderful 'family-time' pics.:) Thank you, Lindsay and Mary!

Great pictures of kids out playing in the woods today. Back in the day when we had real winters in our area our sons would play outdoor hockey under the water tower here in town for weeks at a time. The one problem it presented is that the rink was on the other side of I-75 from our subdivision so the boys would walk under via a tunnel quite similar to that shown in todays notes.(of course they didnt tell their mother until they were off to college).

That's funny, Eddyfitz.:) But that's the way children's minds work...."What they don't know, won't hurt ME."

I have walked thru that same culvert. In the fall it is full of spiders.

I always wondered how those spiders got across the street without being squished! lol Great pics today! Wish we still had the 50 acres (apple orchard, woods, crick, pond, Christmas trees) I grew up with, or lived closer to the Keweenaw. I really miss my walks in the woods. How lucky you and the kids are, Lindsay!

Great pictures!! Looks like fun. Kinda makes me wish I had someone to go exploring with. I still want to go snowshoeing, but not a soul will go with me :(

Great pictures Lindsay. P.S. Lindsay is the daughter of my cousin that I have not seen in over 60 years. Found Lindsay on facebook just by chance last week and then got hooked up with my cousin thru email. What a week that was.
