Dogs don't care if it's snowing or storming, they have to go outside and many of them love to play in the snow, like the four legged friends in Rob Wetton's top photo and the pair in Judy Byykkonen's bottom two shots. All three of these photos have their own uniqueness of winter fun. In Rob's photo, his wife, Gracie, is out enjoying the winter with their son's dog and their dog, too. Look's like Dusty is jumping for joy to be out playing ball.

Then Judy's pair take her out for a snowshoe in the woods and they come back all matted with snowballs on their fur and faces. Sure looks like all these dogs know how to get their owners out and enjoying the winter here in the Keweenaw.

Our dog loves the snow also. She runs and burys herself in it, comes up shaking and it looks as if she's laughing! So darn cute. Not enough of the stuff for her to get buried in, though. Nice pictures!

The Scotty sure is getting big and adorable! They have that *big dog* attitude that just makes you smile! Scotties do grow into their heads! lol!

Our dog liking snow.... ppffft!!! If it gets below 40 he's freezing to death!! We literally have to push him outside otherwise he'll hold it until he starts whining.

Hi
We used to have an Alaskan Malemute; she was a lot more comfortable at 5F than she was at 80F.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 09:33 am:

Rob's doggies look like a Spitz and a Lab. Our dog "Prissy" (a Spitz/Sheba Inu?) loved snow, would lie in and roll around like it was warm grass. She became 'ours' because some cruel person must've shoved her out of his/her vehicle one day. She had been mistreated in the past, because when we'd lean down to pet her, she'd duck like she thought we would hit her.
Judy's last photo is a heart stealer!:>

Smart dog, Capt! I'm the same way and my co-workers get really annoyed :-)
Nice pics...the top photo looks like a snow covered ice rink, or does Rob just like shoveling the backyard? Nice view too.

Our two Goldens are in seventh heaven when we get snow. Had about 9 inches a couple weeks ago (long since gone) and they had a blast! They played 'til they had snowball-toes! Ha, ha, ha...Only lasted a day, though, and then the ice storm came and made life miserable for all concerned.

Alex, You hold it till you start whining and then your co-workers push you out the door? ;-)

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 12:52 pm:

Richard...does a bear go in the woods? :-)

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 02:44 pm:

Shirley, Your story makes me Ill, I'd like to shoot em with my 44 magnum, who would do that to an animal. I know she's gettin lots of love now!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 03:15 pm:

Rob and Judy, very nice pics!

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 04:39 pm:

The Black Lab in the first pic looks EXACTLY like our 9 year old "Spooky" blue collar & all!

Still missing her 10 year old yellow color sister we lost in November :(

By Richard Wieber (Dickingrayling) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 05:27 pm:

Alex----I wondered about the "yard in that picture, too. Now I think it is a side street in Houghton because beyond the trees looks like the hills above Hancock. I'm guessing they are on about 7th street. It's been years since I was UP there in winter so I may be way off.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 06:12 pm:

Russell, it's never easy to say Goodbye to our friend in fur! Dogs sure add so much to our lives in the short time they are with us!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 07:18 pm:

I'm with ya on that, Uncle Chuck! When we decided to 'adopt' her, the only way we could approach her was down on the ground at her level. Which we did to feed her hot dogs. After that, she felt she could 'trust' us.:>

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 08:23 pm:

Mr. Wieber…you my be correct. It looks like the area was plowed, not shoveled.

By Therese (Therese) on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 09:35 pm:

My spaniel-terrier mix Eddie is a ball of
thick black fur all winter and loves the
snow. I shave him in April and he looks
like a lab. Eddie was 8 months old when I
adopted him from the humane society
and had been abused his whole life. He
was terrified of being touched; would
back away snarling when I offered my
hand, but at night would creep into
bed and snuggle against me. It took
months to gain his trust. Now he is loving
and happy. If I do nothing else in my life
at least I made a difference in his.

We go deer hunting, but I could never shoot one of God's marvels! Though I respect thining the heard and feeding ones family.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, February 2, 2012 - 12:44 pm:

A day late here but wanted to respond to you again, Uncle Chuck, I'm totally in favor of hunting for food, as man has done from the beginning. It's my belief that God made doggies and kitties solely for our enjoyment. They certainly aren't a 'source of food'....at least not in this country. Maybe you're like me in the fact that you don't like to 'kill' deer but don't mind if others do it sensibly.
