Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 07:34 am:

Today's photos are from a newcomer to the Pasty Cam, Mandy Perreault, who was the photographer for a session with her sister Courtney and her horses, Magic (the lighter colored one in the first photo) and Annie (the darker one in third photo, running toward the camera). Even though it's winter, the horses still need to be out and run or ridden, so they get their exercise and stay in shape for riding. Looks like Lorcan and Lysander are enjoying the photo session, too, as they watch from their perch on the pasture fence. Lots of fun for the critters and the girls, playing around in the Keweenaw winter.

By the way, the February schedule for pasty shipments is now available, if you've been planning ahead for your Valentine ;->

My wife would enjoy looking at these pics, 2.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 07:52 am:

Mandy and Courtney are automatically my friends and sisters in horse ownership!! Beautiful horses ladies!!

Mary says: JanieT ~ Mandy and Courtney are more than friends to me...I used to babysit these two young ladies, when they were just little ones. They were my "first" little girls and they still hold a special place in my heart. :-)

By Mike Schneider (Upmike) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 09:27 am:

Very nice photos this morning!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 09:40 am:

Horses, next to freighters, are my favorite photo subjects! Sorry, Janie, have to go with the ships first.....but I do LOVE horses, and these are beautiful, as are the 'fence-riding' kitties!:>

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 09:59 am:

Shirley, nothing to be sorry about. It's still a free world to love what ever you want! It is easier for me to own horses than the Mesabi Miner!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 10:06 am:

Very pretty horses, but I'll take the kitties first! I love cats!!!!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 10:13 am:

Janie...LOL!;D

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 10:18 am:

Deb, I've got one (cat) I'll give ya.....he's a bit over 12yrs old, 'talks' constantly when not asleep, and worst yet, he bites! I'm quickly losing my adoration of cats.:(

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 10:54 am:

Lysander looks just like our Norweigen Forest Cat that passed away last April.

By Dr. Nat (Drnat) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 11:24 am:

What nice photos this morning! The kitties are adorable and the horse photos make me miss riding. When I was younger, I used to ride a dapple grey mare named Winchester. She was the biggest, burliest, ugliest mare I've ever seen. People laughed when I took her show jumping, because she lacked the sleek beauty typical of those horses, but she was an amazing companion and the best horse I've ever ridden. And she did a darn fine job show jumping, too.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 11:47 am:

At first glance I thought JT dyed her hair and turned her Scotties into cats :-O

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 12:02 pm:

Alex, other than my miniature horses, which these horses today are not, I am pretty much dwarfed by horses. :)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 12:09 pm:

Dr. Nat, I once owned a retired show jumper, like you said one wonderful companion! She stood 17.2 hands tall. She was still full of life yet and just didn't seem to like retired life, so I trained her to run in the barrel race classes, and other speed events. For the longest time I didn't think she was going to stop jumping the barrels instead of running around them!

By Richard Wieber (Dickingrayling) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 12:35 pm:

Shirlohio----Try getting a kids water pistol and giving you cat a squirt each time it bites. You might have to "strap it on" like a cowboy so it is handy, but you can pretend you are shooting "bad guys". You might become being known as Joan Wayne.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 12:44 pm:

Dr. Nat and Janie, those are both funny stories about your horses. Thanks for the uplift.:)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 12:51 pm:

Thanks, Richard, that has crossed my mind but seeing that 'trick' fail with my daughter and one of her cats, I'm not too sure. She would 'shoot' the cat when he'd jump on the dining table, it worked at first then later he thought it was all 'fun and games'. I've also found out, cats make their own rules....we humans just have to obey.:>

By Karen Benton (Nerakthenice178) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 08:18 pm:

How wonderful to see God's most beautiful creation in action, Mandy! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Mary, the Pasty Cam has brought us many pictures worth a thousand words, and nothing in the English language can adequately express the feelings we experience when confronted with the growth of our special friends. BUT, the pictures tell the tale, don't they? Shirley, don't give up on the cat. Treat it like a teenager who's testing the boundaries, and I'm sure it will learn who's boss. When you're around. :) P.S. Is Magic part-Arab, all Arab, or is the camera angle fooling me?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 28, 2012 - 08:30 pm:

Thank you, Karen, I'll try but it's kind of late in the game...he's been 'testing those boundaries' for a long time.:-]
