At different times on different days, the shores of Lake Superior might look different. That's due to the ever-changing weather with sub-zero cold, then warming up, only to get cold once again. Mike Schneider captured some of the icy moods with the photos here today. He took them all in the Pictured Rocks area, near Munising.
That first shot, looks like the ice is bunching up, most likely due to the winds pushing it around and I'm sure once the winds switch direction, some of that ice will move around to other parts of the shore. Then Mike's other two pictures give us a good idea of how the waves have splashed up on the shore and frozen into various shapes and mounds. I particularly like the formation in the bottom photo. It looks a bit like a giant seashell, but there's no shells to be found in or around Lake Superior, so we'll have to be content to enjoy this icy shell while we can.

Awesome...I just noticed the third pic and it reminds me of "The Silence of the Clams".

Mary, really....no shells around the Lake? I didn't know that....I guess I figured every body of water has shells of some sort in and around it. hmmm Interesting. And yes, that last 'ice-pack' does look like a giant clam shell.

Reminds me of the Seashell City - Giant Man Eating Clam sign on I-75, at the Cheboygan exit I believe. (Was it the clams, Clarice? Were the clams screaming, Clarice?)

The last picture looks like a giant claw coming out of the water and the monster is to follow. LOL..LOL...
