Cold, wind and blowing snow... that's how we started the week here at the Pasty Cam and that's how we end it. Pretty much sums up the last couple days here in the Keweenaw, too. Schools were canceled all across the Copper Country on Thursday, not so much for the snow and blowing, but mostly because the temperatures were down in the single digits. With the wind, it put the windchill factor way below zero. The combination of those types of temperatures and the blowing snow made the decision that the kids shouldn't be out in the elements at all. We're lucky here UP North, we have the equipment and the personnel that know how to operate them to keep our roads plowed and open. Kudos to the plow drivers that are out there in all kinds of weather, so that we Yoopers can make it back home again.
Special thanks to Justin Klenk for the perfect examples of the weather around these parts this past week.

Southern Ohio was supposed to get rain/sleet/snow/ice last night.....I don't see any out my windows. Others areas got some, but no power outages, thank goodness!! Saw plenty of whiteouts like the top photo and worse over the years. Drove thru some...following the tail-lights of a semi once.

We've finally got some winter here in Detroit, too. Now I can look out in the yard and pretend we're in the Keweenaw.

Those two pictures could have been taken here in Linn County Iowa! We got 6 1/2 in. on top of the already 4 in. of white gold!

In all my days going to morrison school pre 1971 they closed school one time and that was due to a blizzard and we found out it was closed after we walked to school about 5 blocks and they told us to go home, back then cold/windchill never mattered only snow, my how things have changed and I agree with closing for cold. Keweenaw county does a really great job of keeping the roads clear better than anyone else.

Isn't it strange, Northwind, how when we're 'told' how bad off we are, the worse off we are.:]

We had about 9 inches of snow here at our house (outside of Seattle, WA) and then we got about 1/2 inch of ICE on top of that! Now it's flooding rains. Sheesh. At least there in da UP, you have the machinery and know-how to handle the snow. We kinda just sit here and wait for it to go away. ;-)

Friday the snow started almost to the minute at 9:30 am and continues til about 6:00 pm. Resulted in plus 7" according to t.v. report. Never stuck my nose out for a minute. I know if I had to get out in a hurry I'd be fighting 2 foot drift to get the door open. Waiting for maintaince fellow with a snow blower. We knew it was coming but I'm in need of milk later today. Stay dry and warm everyone. Gee, Alex, hope you don't wear out you brush!

Snow in SE Texas too....... ok, that's a bit of a stretch in the tropics!! It has been a roller-coaster here; 50's one day, close to 80 the next, then back into 40s-50s after that. It's no wonder everyone is sick around here. Luckliy, I haven't caught the "houstonitus" yet....

I just looked out the window, a lot of white stuff and it looks cold. Think I will stay in and watch a movie today. ;O)

We had 5 to 9 inches of snow here in Chicago. Started after lunch and by rush hour it was a mess. I work west of the loop and my 45 minute drive took 2 hours. Nothing you can do just sit back and enjoy some nice music
