I saw my first robin singing his/her heart out
high up in a tree as I was returning home from
my morning walk on a beautiful, cool (cooler
than Calumet!) Easter morning. There's still
some snow on the ground, but spring flowers
are starting to push their way up.

By sur5er on Sunday, March 27, 2005 - 11:17 pm:

Beverly,

You left out one item: "In my Easter Bonnet..." :)

I remember back in the day, when we used to wear those Easter bonnets that had the elastic strings, that went under your chin to keep them on. My sisters and I would sit in church on Easter Sunday, and put the elastic hat string in our mouths...and ended up sporting red marks on our cheeks the rest of the church mass.

Then there was always at least one girl who chewed through her elastic hat band...and you would ultmiately hear a little one shout 'ouch' in the middle of mass when the elastic snapped on thier face. ;)

By Susan, Fl on Monday, March 28, 2005 - 03:01 am:

Sur5er....yup, I remember those hats. My sisters and I were widely spaced...7 and 4 years between. Mom persisted in dressing us alike until we finally rebelled...or at least as much alike as possible. Many an Easter photo of the three of us standing in a row, usually in yellow, like a bunch Easter chicks, squinting into the sun. And always with the matching yellow hats with the elastic bands that ITCHED like crazy! Maybe that's why hats went the way of the dodo! :)
