Iditarod Sled Dog Race
With the leaders about 1/3rd of the way into the 1130 mile race, Yooper Greg Hickman is in 54th place.
One of the other mushers is 19 yr old Rachael Scdoris of Oregon. She's the first blind competitor to run the Iditarod. Paul Ellering of Minn. acts as her eyes during the race. He's right behind her with his own team. She may not be Finnish, but she's got SISU. Check out the web site.

Good Morning from Florida. Currently in Jacksonville. Zephyrhills and Tigers in the next 2 weeks. Hey Eagle Harbor Troll, we toured a nice subdivision yesterday, just south of Jacksonville. Nice homes, built around a golf course, small lakes (ponds). The name of it was Eagle Harbor! We were driving down the road and the sign at the entry just jumped right out at me. I had to visit it! Maybe Mary could check it out for us. It is on highway 17 just south of here.

Any news on when the 5th street web cam will be adjusted?

By sur5er on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 - 10:51 am:

Oh no! All our snow has melted! I think that may be the last of our snow for the season...although I always hold out hope for one last snow storm before spring breaks.

By Kathy from Whitmore Lake/Cheboygan on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 - 12:20 pm:

surSer, while I like snow on the ground from December throught February (preferably nice powder, just deep enough and fresh enough to provide good cross-country skiing)I'm ready for non-winter now that it's March. Note I didn't say spring; that'll happen a month or two later, when we get flowers and 60 degree temps.

Surprise spring blizzards (dump then melt) are semi-expected.

I used to be able to use the daily pics as wallpaper on my computer, but I now see that past pics I've saved that used to look fine now have a strange resolution. Does anyone know what could have happened? If I save WOW it's OK, but any non-WOW pics aren't (even though they were OK in the past). I've not updated any programs on my computer. Is there a way to correct the resolution on previously saved pics? Thanks in advance.....

Calumet Web Cam? I didn't even know it existed. How can I access it? I always check the bridge cam, but thought that was as close to home (Calumet) as I could get. Please let me know how to access the Calumet Web cam. Thanking you in advance, I am the homesick Yooper.

Tammy IN.
We have windows 98 so this might not work for you. Go to start click on setting and go to the control panel. click on display there go to settings and on the first page click on Additional Properties.
How this comes up also depends on your graphics card. We also have an Acellorater on this beast.

In Oregon this has been the year without winter. It is 5:45 PM
right now and sunny, 74 degrees. Unbelievable... No rain this
winter. We will have a terrible fire season this summer?

Good luck on waiting for Spring in Michigan. Maybe you could
come visit us while waiting?

By NBW Yooper in FL on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 - 09:42 pm:

Hi Mary Drew - Enjoy your comments about your trip.

Come to the Yooper picnic on Thursday, March 10 at Twin Lakes Parak in Sarasota, FL. 11am-3pm
I-75 to Exit 205 EAST(Clark Road) 6/10 mile on your right. Let all the Yoopers know you are there.

Chairperson is Myrtle Tidd- Mathews - 941-358-0230

Mary says: Thanks for the invite, I'm not sure we'll make it down that way for the picnic, but if I should happen to, I'll be sure to let my fellow Yoopers know I'm there!

And we are having some fantastic weather too!Forecasting an 80 by the week's end. Just love our brutal winters. I would not like to have to shovel thru snowdrifts and putting electric blankets on my car's engine so it will start in the morning. All the rain we get certainly fills up the reservoirs so we do not have to ration the water, and everything is kept nice and green in the summer. But then, with all this new growth, and then we happen to get a dry spell, it can only cause a dangerous fire season. Goodness, life is just one big adventure.

to Lowell MO--I have Windows XP & when I go to Start, Control Panel, Display, Settings, Screen Resolution, I'm @ 1024 x 768. I can change it to 800 x 600 but not in-between. If I set it @ the lowest setting for the non-WOW pictures, are you saying that will work? Thanks for replying!
