Is the Calumet webcam at www.mainstreetcalumet , in it's final adjustment? I see a very blurry picture and wondered if it was going to be re-adjusted?

PEWABIC ALL SCHOOL REUNION

Did you attend the old Pewabic School? If so, on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at the Quincy FireHall, there will be an informal reunion of ALL who attended the school. Right now the goal is to create a guest list of people we can contact about the event. Your part in this is to send along an e-mail to:
hmchamber@webtv.net (Helen Aittama Chamberlain), with names and addresses, if you have any, of others you remember who attended the school when you did.

THANKS, and really looking forward to seeing you at the Pewabic School reunion.

As I opened this page I thought, "Hmmm, is somebody in the mountains?" Then I checked the original posting. Yep, Superior sure has it's different moods.

By JO NC on Saturday, March 5, 2005 - 01:27 pm:

Ran across the page I've linked below, and it's kind of funny-- I was in Florida last month and was talking to a buddy I grew up with in Houghton. One of the subjects was Pasty Richards, our night police officer. He seemed to station himself in front of the Lode most evenings, and occasionally one of us would pull up and yell out What's your Dad do for a living? Of course the response was: Nothing, he's a cop. This never failed to anger Pasty (and I mean anger). He would run down the center of Sheldon after the car. Also, Houghton's one and only police car was a '55(?) Ford Police Interceptor. It spent most of it's life parked outside the village police station. One day Joe McGuire, the day cop, and therefore chief, I guess, decided to take it down 41 toward Chassell to blow out the carbon, and blew the engine. FUNNY. It's more than likely the same with the kids today, but when I was in highschool we'd go by the student union at Tech and find a student to buy our beer in exchange for us paying for his. We'd ride around town drinking a few quarts, pass an empty one around the car until it was refilled, cap it, and set it on Dominic's corner by Kirkish furniture. We'd pass by later, and old Dominic would be there finishing it off. Whenever anyone passed Dominic on the street, the greeting was always "Keepa da eye ope, Dom". Another "character" that hung around Shelden was Jimmy, the talking crow. Don't remember whose it was, but the guy lived in West Houghton on Edwards or Calverley, had caught it when it was young and split it's tongue. It knew several words, but I guess was kind of like a parrot without a high scool diploma.

I listened to the first period of the Calumet/Hancock hockey game, which was scoreless, through Pasty.com's link and I can't get hooked up again for some reason. Is there a problem? Does anyone know? Maybe someone can update me on the score. Thanks.

I have too many memories today: the skier reminds me of my parents: they had one pair of snow shoes and 1 pair of the shoes to wear in the snow shoes, hope this is clear. The shoes were long enough to fit my mother's long, narrow feet and wide enough to fit my dad's tripple E's.
JO NC's narrative reminded me of the time I had to get my driver's license: my dad took me up to the court house and a policeman told me to get in the car and drive. Later, on the way home, daddy informed me it was the SHERIFF! I was going to tell about the time my sister ran her VW into an open grave, but I think I will wait on that.

I am so enjoying watching the third eaglet hatch at friendsofblackwater.org! Of course, I learned about that site here on pasty cam a few weeks ago. The eagle cam deserves to be clicked on several times a day for very rewarding pictures!

OK, here's one for you in the "it is such a strange world" department.

My printer died, so since I hate shopping, especially at huge places like Best Buy, I went on line and ordered a printer. It came with a free paper deal.

No matter what I did, I kept being charged for the paper. So I just put in the order.

But it's the principle of the thing--so I e-mailed the "help" person and asked, why am I being charged for this "free" paper.

Answer: the offer is for three packs. Since your cart only asked for one, it is not free.

By pasty cam reader on Saturday, March 5, 2005 - 06:37 pm:

maijaMI- Talk about strange, I agree! Free paper means free paper, whether it is 1 pack or 10 packs. Why is everything so difficult?

By sur5er on Sunday, March 6, 2005 - 02:30 am:

Maija,

I must have jinxed you this week...my scanner died earlier this week...hmmmm. :)

I almost did the same thing when I purchased my scanner...the price on the shelf said one price, but when I took it to the register, it rang up at $40 more. The cashier told me that was because the prince listed on the shelf reflected a $40 mail in rebate off the actual price. C'mon, just tell me up front and don't put everything in fine print, eh. ;)

By maijaMI on Sunday, March 6, 2005 - 07:34 am:

sur5er: Don't say that! My former co-worker, Lina, and I exchanged jinxes, constantly! I know it was really only coincidence, but every few weeks or so I'd come in and say, how's your car? Or she'd say, any heating problems? Bingo bongo--repair needed. Life is sooooo strange!
