By Mary Drew spending some time in Tarpon Springs, FL on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 09:10 am:

Hi from Tarpon Springs, Florida!

A picture to share with Y'All! Jim and I were getting a bit lonesome for the U.P. so we decided to head further south on US-41, which for the non-Yooper viewers, begins/ends in Copper Harbor!

Beginning or the End?!!

It was nice to see a highway from home, so we stopped and snapped a shot of it, since last week someone had requested a picture of the 'green' from down south! :->
South US 41

This shot is actually taken just north of Brookesville, Florida, near the Withlacoochee State Forest!

Mary Drew,

Just in case you get homesick, here's what's happening this morning on the edge of Bete Grise Bay: a pair of marauding coyotes.

Mary says: Thanks for the beautiful pictures of home!

By Alex Tiensivu, Georgia on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:48 am:

Are you saying I could hop on 41 here in Georgia, and go right to the U.P.? Without interuption?

By Yooper Willie on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 11:05 am:

Alex Tiensivu, Georgia

Driving 41, through Chicago, is somewhat of an interuption, but stay on it until you reach lands end just past Copper Harbor.

By UC, LittleBetsy/ Commerce on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 11:15 am:

Mr& Mrs Bill, nice pictures, can't wait to be U.P. there, guess I'll just have to make a few sales calls on the local hospitals and get up there.

By A.J. Tiensivu, Georgia on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 12:15 pm:

Thanks, Yooper Willie... I wonder if that's even the easiest route from here, but I know where 41 in Atlanta is... I just never knew it was the SAME 41! Who would expect that!

It may be the most direct route, but I may want to check Mapquest and see what it says.

Thanks again!

By Alex Tiensivu, Georgia on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 12:24 pm:

Does anyone know where a good place would be to go on the Net to look for available houses, (rentals prefered), in the Houghton/Hancock area, and the Mohawk area? It would have to give detailed information, as I live so far away.

Would appreciate any information.

By Yooper Willie on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 12:32 pm:

AJ , Georgia

Save about two extra days of driving, and take the Interstates.

Using cruise control at 7 MPH over, I know that Dalton GA to Chicago is a full days drive, and Chicago to Copper Harbor is eight hours driving (but nine hours, with the time change).

By Alex Tiensivu, Georgia on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 01:30 pm:

Thanks, Yooper! I appreciate it! (Kinda figured that, but was still intrigued by the fact I have a road a few miles from here that would take me right to where I want to go!)

By Fran,Ga on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 02:12 pm:

Hey Alex, for starters just do a Google search. Type in Real Estate,Houghton Co. Later I'll e-mail you with some other sources.

Us 41 goes right by me too, just a couple miles away.If you weren't concerned with time it might be a more scenic route. Talk to you later.

By Al, So.Cal. on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 04:03 pm:

This link will get a map of US-41 on dead end street in Miami: End of the road!

Did you know all the north/south U.S. highways are odd numbered. The farthest one west is U.S. 101 in California. All the east/west highways are even numbered. The farthest one north is good old U.S 2 There are a lot of stories and songs about good old U.S. 2. Wishing I was in Arvo's camp off of da 2.

I work on US 41 in Bradenton, FL. Cool, makes me feel "connected" again.

By Alex Tiensivu, Georgia on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 12:28 am:

Sounds like you're LITERALLY connected! I am still so surprised!
