Here I sit, late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Thanks for the smiles!
Sur5er, we do not know what breed Paco is. Her mother is a Black Lab and the whereabouts and whoabouts concerning her father are unknown.I've always seen a little 'Dr.Seuss' character in some of her expressions and maneuvers. She is part Chow,as in Chow Hound. She and I were hiking in the woods Saturday afternoon. I had the advantage of snowshoes, while the poor dog sank to elbows and knees when she ventured off the beaten path. Soon I was alone. I figured she'd had enough of this nonsense and decided to just go home. About a half hour later I heard the familiar whine. The branches were moving as she created a shortcut, tail wagging,an ear-to-ear grin on her face. I later heard how she walked into the neighbor's house, gobbled the food from their doggy dish, gave them all a little attention, then walked out the door and headed up the road.( The door was open to cool the house. Two words: wood heat!)
I guess she was bored during our hike today because I bought another camera and spent more time fiddling with the hunk of machinery than trudging along at a decent pace.
The kids gave the name 'Paco" when she was a puppy, ten years ago. On the LOYALTY and TRUST scales,we rate this dog a perfect ten...gazillion!
Yes,she likes cats. We have three. We don't need three, but she does.
The pics were taken at Agate Beach. The second one was taken on the hilltop across the Little Elm river. You were close enough,Ron.
The poikas will always be the poikas. The days of the "Heroes in the half-shell" are long gone, but once a poika...you know the rest.
Nate, your barbecue fork is still in the sauna. I think of you when I am enjoying the l o n g steam while melting a chunk of ice on the rocks. I'll dig up the recipe for ice and will prepare a batch for you to use at your leisure when you fianlly come home! Have a blessed Easter, everyone!

Joyce,
ROFL about Paco walking into the neighbor's house and helping herself to chow. What a character. When we first adopted our little Abbi, we didn't have the fence in yet...and she would wander out of our yard and visit our neighbor. She had the neighbor trained...she would 'knock' on thier patio door with her paw and they would let her in...where she would recieve her attention and of course a treat of some kind.
When we put the fence up, she learned how to climb the fence...like a cat. It has become even more hilarious as her hind end as expanded over the years...so she just teeters sometimes on the top of the fence..and she has to wait for the motion to stop before she can jump over the fence, to see our neighbor.
Last summer, hubby and I were getting ready to take the girls out to dinner...and when we looked for Abbi, she was of course at our neighbors. So I sent the girls to collect the Abbi. The girls came back...minus the Abbi.
"Where's Abbi...why didn't you bring her back home with you?"
"Ed's feeding her a popsicle...he said he'd send her home when she's finished with it."
Hubby looked out the picture window and there sat Ed on his back patio, holding Abbi's popsicle as she ate it. Now how spoiled is that?
