Good morning :) There is a something bright and shiney in the sky this morning...OMG, it's the sun! Can't remember the last time the sun was out.

Well, I have to get back to my paperwork...and, incidently, I swear this pile of paperwork is growing instead of getting smaller...why is that?

Hope everyone has a great day :)

Hi Sur5er,

I know why -- paperwork is like hangers -- it multiplies when you aren't looking!

By sur5er on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 12:24 pm:

Candy,

Well at least I am not having as bad of a day as my hubby....who just called me this morning.

Me: "I have paperwork up the ying yang...blah, blah, blah...it never ends...and I am on a deadline...blah, blah, blah..."

Hubby: "How much ya think a bag of cat litter will cost...a really big bag?"

Me: "Uh oh...what did you spill this time."

Hubby: "You remember that time you went to the East Coast with me, and the truck made that big bang and then all the smoke came out of the engine?"

Me: "Uh oh."

Hubby: "Well that time, we turned the truck off right away. But this time, when it happened, I was inside..."

Me: "Wooo...hang on there...what do you mean 'this time'?"

Hubby: "I'm trying to explain...if you'd just hold on."

Me: "Last time that thing a ma jiggy went on the semi, I don't remember whatever it is you need to soak up with the cat litter, spewing out of the engine..."

Hubby: "I was getting to that part."

Me: "This better be good."

Hubby: "So I was inside one of the stores, doing paperwork...and I didn't hear the truck engine make that loud popping noise before the (whatever the heck that thing is), went on the truck. Because I didn't turn off the engine right away...like we did last time, and when it made that popping sound, it spit oil all over the place....mostly all over the windshield...but some of it on the ground...which is why I need the cat litter."

Me: "You know, suddenly my job today isn't looking that bad, after all."

Hubby: "Funny! Very funny."

Me: "Look at the bright side...at least you're getting paid down time because your engine blew in your semi."

Hubby: "You're not helping matters."

I love my job...I love my job...I love my job, paperwork and all :)

Good thing theres a laugh or two over here on "Whats UP" Thanks for the upper sur5er. This is the OT section right, the part of pasty.com that you can discuss anything, right? Well, I'm doing a survey. I'D LIKE TO FIND WHAT EVERYONES FAVORITE WEBSITE IS ASIDE FROM PASTY.COM AS NUMBER 1. I don't know what kind of response I'll get, as it seems that not many post over here lately. I like those lively discussions on a variety of topics that we used to have, before things were changed around.

Great story Sur5er, We all need some humor these days. Buddy asked what our favorite website is, My niece raises Yorkies and Havenese dogs. She shows them on the west coast. Very cute site if I do say so myself. Do not know if I can name it though, someone let me know ok? Have a good rest of the week all!....

My next favorite website, being an ex-New Yorker, is www.forgotten-ny.com

By Sue-sue, loveland, Oh on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 02:51 pm:

My favorite website after this one is John Dee.com. Since I am stuck here in SW Ohio where a inch or two of snow sends everyone in a panic and they all rush to the store to purchase the necessities of life - beer, milk, chips and white bread - I really appreciate reading how the residents of Copper Country love the snow and take the weather in stride. Keep up the great work. I know I love it and appreciate both web sites.

By Kathy from Whitmore Lake/Cheboygan on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 04:35 pm:

Buddy, I don't have any one favorite website. But, for humor, I visit "For Better or for Worse", "Crankshaft" and of course "Dilbert". I also check out Astronomy Picure of the Day; today it showed a time lapse satellite view of an iceberg the size of Long Island slamming into the Ross Ice shelf in Antarctica.

By sur5er on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 05:01 pm:

Buddy,

Sur5er's favorite websites:

John Dee's Snow Central
http://www.johndee.com/

George Hite/Eagle Harbor
http://www.eagleharborweb.net/

The Daily Mining Gazette
http://www.mininggazette.com/

Marquette County Cabin/Land Raffle
http://www.marquette.org/Raffle/

Da Yoopers Webpage, eh.
http://www.dayoopers.com/

Up North Webcams
http://upnorth.info/webcams/

Mount St. Helen's VolcanoCam
http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/

Gosh, with such a large list of favs, you folks must think that all I do all day long is live on my computer...which is true. But remember, I am not stuck out on the side of a road with a blown semi engine....looking for a bag of kitty litter...and hoping the tow truck with the rental semi finds me before the factory where I have my 5pm pick up closes. Aaaaaaaaaaaah, the joys of truck driving that they don't teach in truck driving rodeo class 101. :)

Susan in Florida,

Thanks for yesterday's message. Our dog is
doing better today, but continues to sniff
around our son's room. He is getting lots of
tlc and a few extra treats as well.

Our son is in the Army, stationed at Fort
Lewis. He will likely be deployed this spring.
We hope he'll have a chance to visit us before
he's deployed. We're saving our change on
the off chance we end up going to see him out
there.

I thank you for your offer about the Jackie
Torrence CDs. I'll get back to you after I check
around here. Tonight it's back to writing report
cards.

One of my favorite sites is the Iron bay webcam in Marquette. With streaming action, you can actually watch it snowing. I love that!

Kate,
I would have to agree on the Iron Bay cam. It's almost better than watching it from the upstairs window. Thanks to John of Iron Bay for making this cam possible. :)

A fairly good humor site is: www.poopyjoe.com

We are really having a dry dry dry winter. Look out for a bad fire
season.

California and British Columbia are getting the rains this year
that we depend upon. Almost March now so it is too late to
attempt or hope to catch up with needed moisture.

UP is stormy again. Good for you.

Where is this cold picture taken, I remember the blizzard, icy roads, and freezing temps. Gone from them now. Who would live up there if they had a choice. Not me.

By downstate don on Thursday, February 24, 2005 - 12:11 am:

Mary, Utah...The winters are too severe for me also. I was raised in the U.P. but moved here after graduation from High School. Been here for
36 years..only went up there twice during the
winter for visits. Last Winter visit was about l0
years ago. Swear I'd never go again in the winter.
Summer months are different. Can't get enough of
the U.P. in the summer.

Favorite web site other than pasty is Michigan Tech's. Live web cams of Houghton and the campus. Second favorite is CUTOnion.com which is Taka's site. He still posts wonderfull pictures he took while at Tech, and great pictures of Japan where he now is.
