So sorry, all....should have posted my Good morning song on What's up page...I forgot. Forty lashes with that soggy old noodle!

The only thing this comment has to do with the UP is hockey. I listen regularly to the Canadian National news at 10 every night. Last Thursday I heard Peter Mansbridge comment that people in the US don't give a hoot about the game. I googled cbc.ca, clicked on the news part of the menu and found where to send them a message which stated that there are some of us down here who miss their hockey broadcasts. Yeah, we can't match NASCAR for numbers, but our zeal is real. Messages to them from all over the US might give them a different view.

Of course we love hockey! But I remember when it was a less violent sport. Grew up with Gordy Howe and the Red Wings. At the tender age of 12, I was allowed to take the bus to Olympia Stadium with a girlfriend. Also was allowed to go to Tiger Stadium and see Al Kaline and the other exemplary gentlemanly Tigers. Those were good times in Motown. (actually in Detroit--it wasn't Motown yet)

I am trying to find a cell phone providor that could provide service at Big Traverse--have had Verizon and Alltell without luck.

We sure do love our hockey and I'm sad as all get out sans NHL (especially missing my #1 fav team of the Flames and #2 fav Redwings). At least in Milw we have the Admirals and there's always Badger Hockey every weekend on the local PBS station.

The news guys out here in California like to look for more "exotic" sports -- so they showed the UP 200 on the news last night! I was jumping up and down yelling to my hubby and daughter, "Look, Marquette is on TV!" They looked at me like I was crazy, but it was pretty cool to see the Yoop on my Sacramento TV!

That came at 4:57 of the second period and had the Tech crowd in full throat. But the Wildcats caught a break when Tech was slow on a line change and junior defenseman Nathan Oytstrick raced down and fired a shot from the left circle that beat Ellsworth at the 16:03 mark..."

Funny how Conner can "throw" the puck in front of the net, have it bounce off skates and go in, yet Northern catches the break when Tech screws up a line change...Further evidence of the never-ending spin that follows this team around.

I've gone through my memorabilia file. Seems
like I didn't always save my programs from the
Toronto Storytelling Festival. I've been going
for the past twenty years or so. I'm pretty sure I
have heard Jackie Torrance tell a tale. I just
"googled" her name and I have a feeling I
heard her a few years ago during a Black
History event. I will try to purchase a tape or
CD if they have them for sale at this year's
festival.

Thanks for your comment about my son. You
too Maija! He just called from the Seattle
airport. Lots of traveling for such a short
period of time, but we were all so glad to see
him. Right now our dog is moping around,
missing his buddy. The rest of us know how
he feels.

Kosk...is Seattle your sons final destination or is he elsewhere bound? Hope he can get back again soon for a visit. Does he still live near you or is Seattle now "home"? Sounds like pooch needs some tlc for a while! It's amazing how the little critters can miss us nearly as much as we miss them. Let me know how your search for Jackie Torrence's stuff goes...would be glad to loan you something you may not be able to find....just let me know. Or I can tell you what I have on hand....

Sur5er...wonder if we met in a "previous life" back in Michigan! Just wandering the aisles of OCC! I too have a love of dinnerware...have several sets...service for 12 and service for 4 both Christmas patterns, 2 sets of 12 in fine bone china, set of 4 in casual bone and service for 8 in stoneware. And this is after getting rid of 2 other sets in the past few years...my goal is to divest of a few more before I retire so the truck can make it back up I-75. By the time you pack all that stuff (and the stemware etc to go with) and then we won't even go into the book situation (which is nearing castastrophic proportions!) Oy vey! My back and my bank account at least agree on one thing!
DIVESTITURE! But I'm just not ready yet. Enjoy it all too much. When we both get back home we can have a party! We'll invite all the pasty cammers and be able to entertain all of them between the two of us! You guys get ready, we're coming home....eventually! ;)

The way I look at it, the weight of our dinnerware in our UHaul will come in handy if we cross the Mighty Mac on a windy day...we'll be better grounded ;)

Oh yes, definately party time when we get back home...we have to show off all our perty dinnerware, eh.

That would have been a hoot if we had run into each other in the past over at the Ohio China Company. The big thing they have out that way now is Libby Glass Manufacturer in the Market Place in Toledo Ohio...not the same as Ohio China...but plenty of glassware and dinnerware. :)
