Good morning....up and at 'em, as my mum used to say!

I can't figure out if the oldie ice castles were better than this year's choices. Both look pretty good to me.

My mom used to say "Are you mooooviiing?" and then sit on us if we weren't. :)

For the last 3 years I've been coming to this web site and have enjoyed every bit of it. But it got me wondering if there are any other areas of North America that have sites which reflect it's present life and heritage like Pasty.net does for the Copper Country. If you know of any, please pass them along.

Just read George Hite's latest journal entry. He's such a gifted writer to always leave me with a sense of serenity and calm. So if you're reading this at your desk and having a crazy day, take a few minutes to slowly savor his writing at the Eagle Harbor Web. Do not skim! Have a great day!

I think it's amazing the Tech kids got anything built at all, considering how warm it's been up there! Just looking at the Tech cams, I see that it's 30 degree now, which means the statues won't last too long. Better enjoy them soon, if you're lucky enough to be there...

I have the same problem that troll with connections is having. No big thing I guess.

As the Pasty.NET wireless broadband network continues to expand throughout the Keweenaw Peninsula, we have developed some tools for better reception. On those receivers with "rabbit ears" we have found a 'passive-reflector' add-on to be quite effective in pulling in a distant signal.

Antennae
Today we made up a whole batch of these to get out to Pasty.NET members, and Edie had this idea to mount them on dowels for easier transportation. How's that for Pasty.NET on a stick?

Winter - even though it's not over yet, I can sense it coming to a close, the angle of the sun, more blue skies, and days in a row without those magical crystals, nature's art, falling from the sky. Boo, I love winter. There's nothing like dressing properly, and going out in it to explore, listen, breathe fresh air, and really experience it. (I'm sure some Yoopers think I'm nuts.) Oh well.
Marsha/Genesee - I agree about George Hite's journal, and his eloquent writing. As he says, getting out in winter can be "healthful and satisfying soul food for all who seek it." I couldn't have said it better.

Troll with Conections- Try www.lelandreport.com. That's Leland Michigan. Pretty pictures but not quite the same as the good ol' Pasty Net. I don't think there is anything like Pasty.com

By Missin the UP from NJ on Friday, February 11, 2005 - 08:05 pm:

I agree with todays talk wondering whether there's anything like Pasty.com out there in other communities.... Just think of all the other 49 states and neighboring countries! Wow, they sure could provide a service for travelers to their areas! They're missing out, for sure! I've searched the web on occasion and found sites with some posted pics, but NOTHING like this one. Pastycam- UNIQUE in this world!! But then we who grew up in the UP know that it's UNIQUE place. Besides, the Yoop's got the Pasties!!

How do I find George Hite and his journal?

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura on Friday, February 11, 2005 - 11:23 pm:

I go to johndee.com, click on his journal and read it, and click on George's Eagle Harbor web at the top of that page.
