Good morning everybody!

Good morning everyone!

By P&G, TN on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 06:49 am:

Tomorrow is our day to go and sit
outside time for awhile.
The bright stars will seem to ring like bells,
the air will tremble with quickness,
like a fine wine,
exhilarating in its effect on the system.
GROUNDHOG DAY...the more we understand,
the realization grows of how little we know!
The day brings serenity..the most precious of conditions.

Mornin' 32° here and snow is due.

By maijaMi on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 09:01 am:

To all loyal Pasty cammers: here's a neat thing a friend emailed to me. It has to do with right brain-left brain. Check it out for yourself.

While sitting, lift your right foot and make a circle clockwise. While doing this, with your right hand, draw a number 6 in the air. Your foot will now be going counter-clockwise.

P&G,TN

Have you been in the "squeeze" again?

By danbury, amused on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 09:31 am:

That's an interesting one, maija. Tried several times. It does. Unless I go real slow - still quavers, though.
Last week, sat in class with a co-student named Maija. of course, she was from Finland.

By Rose on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 10:00 am:

I must be weird. I can do the cirle with my right foot and draw the 6 at the same time. Takes a bit of concentration.. Opps I better get back to work ...people are staring!

By sur5er, Indiana on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 10:28 am:

Good morning everyone. We're into day two of our warming trend here on Lake Michigan. Oh no, all the snow is starting to melt...and there is no snow fall in the forecast.

One...two...three...'let it snow, let it snow, let it snow'. Nope...still not working

By Candy, CA on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 10:41 am:

Weather doesn't look promising for Tech Carny, either -- highs in the upper 30s and low 40s for the next week! There go the statues...

By sur5er, Indiana on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 12:33 pm:

Candy,

I know whatcha mean. Winter ain't the same without the beauty of fallen snow on the ground...without snow, it's just plain drab in the winter.

C'mon folks, please post some jokes to lighten up my day...I'm knee deep in a Color Of Law Complaint/project and need some chuckles. :-)

V-day is just 2 weeks away....

Valentine’s Day Uses for Duct Tape

10. One rose traditionally means "I love you." A dozen roses made entirely out of duct tape means "I'll love you forever!"

9. If your sweetheart is dieting, wrap that heart-shaped box of chocolates in ten to twenty layers of duct tape - they'll either give up entirely, or burn about 300 calories while opening it.

8. Or, forget the box of chocolates, just give your sweetheart a roll of duct tape. Duct tape is 100% fat free.

7. No more cupid's bow and arrow necessary. Just wrap yourself in duct tape, sticky-side-out and fling yourself against the object of your desires.

6. Valentine's Day dinner apparel is spill-proof when you make it out of duct tape. Dribble some red wine? No problem, just hose yourself off!

5. Make a giant Valentine's Day greeting card: Write "I LOVE YOU..." on your garage door with duct tape. You might make friends with the neighbors using this hint, also.

4. Popping the question? Do what Tim did. Duct tape yourself to your askee's leg until she accepts your proposal of marriage.

3. Make a Love Bug: Cover a Volkswagen Beetle (any vintage) in red or pink duct tape hearts. Don't have a Beetle? Duct tape an old claw-foot bathtub upside down on the top of your car and it will kind of look like a bug.

2. Make your sweetheart a sexy duct tape teddy or negligee out of red and black duct tape (warning: hair removal eminent)

1. Duct tape your bedroom door shut so the kids don't come in during your romantic interlude.

By Katrina, MI in OH on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 12:48 pm:

Rose, you're not weird, or else there's two of us. It took a litle practice, but i can counteract the tendancy to switch directions--most of the time--including with a few 6's in a row. But even then i usually wind up with elipses instead of circles.

By Riv on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 01:04 pm:

"eminent"?!

By Missin the UP from NJ on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 01:05 pm:

maija M
I tried your trick too! What a hoot! Bet the Brain Researchers have some kind of long explanation for why- I say it's just fun! Can't wait to pass it along to all my friends. Thanks

By Missin the UP from NJ on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 01:14 pm:

By the way, Dave of Laurium- I've never forgotten the "Laurium Glacier" and wondered how it looks in the middle of winter. Or wouldn't we recognize anything in a pic of it other than a lot of snow?? Just curious.

By sur5er, Indiana on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 01:26 pm:

F'cubed,

Thank you...that was hilarious, and definately had me chuckling aloud...and just what I needed. I love my work...I love my work...I love my work, honestly, I do. But sometimes, a gal has gotta have a chuckle or two...it is the greatest stress reliever.

Usually hubby keeps me in chuckles with his 'home improvement' adventures: Crash! Boom! "Don't worry about that hon, I think Sears/Lowes/Mennards sells something for me to fix that little goof with!" Or the famous, "Hmmmm...I think with a little duct tape, you won't be able to really notice that little mistake that I made in the wall/ceiling".

Okay folks, the question of the day: Why does duct tape come in colors now? C'mon, it's not like they're designer colors, so the duct taped mistake will 'blend in'. What in the heck goes with florescent green, red, and orange duct tape. I see that stuff glowing on an object and immediately it is like a flashing neon sign "hubby was here...and he didn't exactly know how to fix it, but danged if the duct tape didn't do the job!"

By maijaMI on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 02:26 pm:

Rose and Katrina: are you by any chance left handed? I wondered if lefties would have to use their left foot and hand.

OR... you're really balanced between right and left brain, which I assume is a good thing for you!

By Greta the fixer-upper, Milw on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 02:37 pm:

My top five tools: hammer, screwdriver, tile cutter, needle nose plier and duct tape. If one of those don't work, then it's time for me to call in a professional.

By sur5er, Indiana on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 02:39 pm:

Maija,

I can do this without my foot changing direction, also. I am ambidextrous. I wonder if the others who can do this without their foot changing direction are also ambidextrous?

By maijaMI on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 03:02 pm:

Sur5er: INTERESTING! I was wondering about lefies, but hadn't thought of ambidextrous people. I must be strongly right or left brained, cause no matter how hard I try, I can't stop the effect!

By Joe Finn, Rhinelander, Wi on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 03:29 pm:

One thing you will never hear a Yooper say:
"You can't fix that with duct tape"

By Karen... on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 04:45 pm:

P&G have a wonderful day tomorrow. It seems you celebrate this Holiday in Tennessee, more so than other locations. Please tell us what you do to recognize this occasion.

Hello to downstate don and H from Oklahoma.

I can't believe all the traffic the Ramada has had lately. It must be folks take a lot of winter vacations vs summer. When I was in their parking lot last August, I was sitting on the rock by the canal all by myself. The snowmobilers have to bring a lot of revenue to the area, right? This is good for the economy!

By downstate don on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 04:51 pm:

Hello Karen from Florida..good hearing from ya.
Hope all is well with ya..ya planning another trip
to the UP this summer?

By Karen... on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 04:55 pm:

We just may do that. We had a good time up there in August. Of course, you know how fast vacations pass. I hope you had a nice Holiday and soon winter will be over for you. I understand you had a lot of snow to shovel lately. Take care. By the way, "The Ground Hog" will NOT see his shadow tomorrow...my prediction.

By Karen... on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 05:04 pm:

P&G, Go to the UP Jigsaw page. Your little furry guy is waiting for you to put him together so he can find his shadow. They have a cute interactive site for you to put puzzles together. Good luck tomorrow.

By joeyooper on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 05:26 pm:

You are losing the chat room debate, and you will never win. Looks like we need another file called "chat room". Please people read the policy.

By copper country resident on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 06:32 pm:

I agree with joeyooper, people let's try to keep
this talk clean or Mr. Hopper will shut down this
whole operation. A little fun is fine, but when it comes to intimate stuff, keep it to yourself
and never mind sharing with others who use this
website!!!

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 11:01 pm:

Mimi and I can do it, too, without the foot changing directions. 'Course I am ambidextrous, I can write wit' neit'er hand. ;o)

By Patti Wisconsin on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 - 07:01 am:
