A bit of nature's bounty, stored naturally as winter treats for our feathered friends. First look at this shot, you think clear, crisp, as the photo definitely is. Then of course you realize that the actual apples Lori Houle-Vial captured still hanging from the branches, aren't crisp at all. Once the frigid U.P. temperatures envelope them, they of course turn quite soft as they thaw out, making a delectable snack for the birds to come back to time and again. Nature truly is amazing, always taking care of its own!
After a week of warmer temperatures, the Winter Carnival statue building gets going full steam to try and salvage what they've lost from the big melt-down. If I'm not mistaken, the all-nighter is Wednesday, but I'm betting there'll be a couple all-nighters to try to get the statues ready for judging. At least all the statue engineers are at the same disadvantage after the thaw. Good luck builders!
