I remember going to Ft. Wilkins when I was a safety patrol kid at the Lake Linden HS 'way back in 6th grade. The fort was in pretty rough shape back then. The stockades were half falling down and some of the cabins were even worse. Sure like to see how it has been restored. A few years later when I worked at Marco's Steakhouse and McGinty's Resort, I used to go out to the fort and look around. I liked walking the rocky shore line between the fort and Copper Harbor, too. Dunno if a guy could do that anymore.
