If you're one of the many Yoopers who drive back and forth to work - both trips in the dark this time of year- there may be an overlooked blessing to be thankful for: seeing all of your neighbors' glowing seasonal decorations twice a day! Bruce Watters snapped a shot of his Uncle Ray's house, lighting up the skyline in Ishpeming. I would think this would be the perfect time to go for an evening drive to enjoy the hard work that goes into stringing all those lights around your home!

I have been enjoying the darkness of the wee hours of the morning under the lite of the moon and stars walking our dogs in our field, a type of Silent Night, Holy Night. Merry Christmas!

Reagrding that light show video. The guy lives about an hour south of me in SW Ohio. It is my understanding that he shut things down at the request of the local police force. Seems that they were getting more than their share of fender benders due to the increased traffic in the area. I hear he plans to do it again next year though.

I am really thankful that we can still say things like God Bless or Merry Christmas on this website. It seems that the way things are going we don't have the right to express ourselves anymore. Merry Christmas everyone and may God Bless all.

Daveofmohawk, During the last week, I have throughly enjoyed hearing everyone say "Merry Christmas". Standing in line at Walmart though, and listening to the cashier who was unable to return customers' "Merry Christmas" greetings...due to company policy..was a bit unsettling. Come to think of it, Walmart was the only place I have been to in the last week, where I wasn't wished a Merry Christmas. Hmmmm...

Beautiful light display! I wish I had the ambition to put up a display like that, but I'm almost never home for the holidays anymore.
BTW, Wal-Mart DOES NOT have a policy against wishing people "Merry Christmas," at least at the corporate level (Read press release here). I'm no fan of Wal-Mart, but I never believe what I hear anymore unless I check it out. Sorry for adding this to the main page, but I figured I'd try to stop this thread before it went any further. Follow-ups to the "What's Up" page please!

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year everyone in the UP! A big "thank you" to Charlie and Mary and all the great people at Pasty Central who keep me longing for the UP-- especially this time of year when I expect snow for Christmas and all we get is rain. It is nice to be able to save pictures on my computer so that I can virtually enjoy the snow. Greetings to all my friends and sistahs who read this!
