Good afternoon---Just checked and it is already noon! Nice day here and the forecast calls for cooler temps.through the Thanksgiving Holiday.Looks like the UP is going to have lots of snow. It is so beautiful this time of year...always loved the first snowfall.

We hope the UP keeps getting snow so we can establish some snowbanks. THEN, we'll have a snowball fight...

I have to once again mention how wonderful it's been since I discovered Pasty Central... While I've found cousins I didn't know I had, and while I've heard from so many who knew my Grandparents, I guess the best thing is the friendship we have with "Fran in GA". She values us so much that she wanted us over for Thanksgiving, and since we couldn't do that, we're about to leave to have our very own private Thanksgiving. We're bringing a big bisd with us, AND THE FOUR PASTIES we ordered from here, which just arrived in time for us to take with us. This place may make me very homesick, but thank God for it. I love everything Charlie and the gang do here. I don't know of another Website anywhere that is like this one, although John Dee's site come in at a close second! Thank you to all the people who run this site and all the friends and family I've discovered here.

The Tiensivu Family

By the way... The big bist mentioned above, is really a big bird! We don't eat bist's for dinner! (LOL).

Alex,
How bout the bisd? You eat those? ;)

Wow, check out the driving conditions on the Mighty Mac. Don't know if even I would venture across the bridge on a day like today.

Fran,
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family this weekend. You have been in my thoughts, this past week, as I can only imagine how difficult this holiday season will be for you.

Alex: One more chorus of "We Are Family" :)

If anyone thinks of it, when the lakes start to freeze over please let me know! My husband made the mistake of saying "we can go north and go ice fishing" when he found out I had extra vacation left over! I don't care to ice fish, but it is the chance to "go north"! Thanks all and have a good day!

The earlier nasty blowing snow at the Big Mac has eased up now, but for future reference, here's a link: Mackinac Bridge Conditions

Danbury, danke gut! that's about all the Deutch I can remember! I took German from the eighth grade up to my senior year, and I am afraid that's all I remember, such ashame too, as I enjoyed the class a lot! I also used to be able to sing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles in Deutch.

By Danbury (Danbury) on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 06:08 pm:

Then you knew some german that even I didn't know about - never knew there were german lyrics for that song.
Interesting to hear, though, that there were (are?) classes in german in american schools, anyhow.
Now, it's 0015 - gute Nacht allerseits!
(Good night everybody!)

By Greta Armata (Gretania) on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 06:34 pm:

Danbury, lots of schools here teach German. In Milwaukee, we have 3 schools that each specialize in a language. They are called "immersion schools" and starting from Kindergarten on up, the students are taught the language and from about 3rd grade up the kids only speak that language during the day. We have a German school, French school and Spanish school. Some of the other schools offer the chance to learn other languages just as a class. My son had several years of Japanese while he was in Middle School and another year in High School. Kids pick up the other languages so much quicker than adults - must be more room in the cranium!

By JanieT (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 08:02 pm:

Danbury, my German teacher for 8th and 9th grade was born and raised in Germany, Frau Gardner, as well as my 10th - 12th teacher Herr Eschbach. Auf viedersahn!

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 08:50 pm:

Danbury, here in Mishawaka, IN we have a German class at the high school. Every other year the German students come to Mishawaka in the fall for a month and our students go to Germany the next June. I'm sorry to say at this moment I can't recall the name of the town the German students are from. It has been going on a number of years now.

By Danbury (Danbury) on Sunday, November 20, 2005 - 03:46 am:

I admit to stand not exactly corrected, but informed. :)
Thanks to JanieT, Greta Armata and Charlotte for the input.
