Great Blast from the past. Was the view from my living room for three of my years at Tech. Great neighbors contrary to what some think!

Happy Halloween all,
Our parade thru our little town was a huge success The children started from one end to the north end to the elementary school.(7:20am) All the merchants stood out and gave candy. Parents stripped their kids of their costumes right outside the school door and they all made it on time. Our daughter was intrumental in getting this project together. Its so nice to see the community come together especially for the kids.

By Charles in Adrian (Charlesinadrian) on Monday, October 31, 2005 - 12:56 pm:

I just heard a report on bats on the NPR station in Toledo which
began with the Quincy mine. It seems the operators of the mine
treat their bats with respect. Other places try to kill all their bats
by closing off all exits so they are buried alive. Good for Quincy.
Imagine how many mosquitoes the Hancock area would have
each summer without all those bats.
Moving on, I wonder if the good folks at Pasty.com could
remind us tomorrow what we are looking at when we turn to the
November photo in the 2005 calendar. It is a wondrous scene,
but where is it?

Sure thing, Charles! The scene you're talking about for November, in the 2005 Pasty Cam (In memory of Dan Urbanski) Calendar, is a shot from the Porkies in Ontonagon. The picture was featured on Jan. 02, 2002. Dan truly was an artist!

Dan's view of the Porkies!

Yesterday morning I met my sister Dee, and her husband at the Welcome center. They were on their way to Fla. We went for breakfst at Shoney's and on our way out the cashier wanted to know what a Yopper(Yawper) was? He had a Yooper t-shirt on. Ray proceeded to tell her! :)

By Cindy M. Archibald (Cindymay) on Monday, October 31, 2005 - 11:58 pm:

Just heard this evening on TV that the average bat eats between 2,000 and 6,000 mosquito size insects EVERY NIGHT!!! Can't even begin to imagine how "buggy" the world would be without the little "darlings"!!! (The source of this info was the bat keeper at Cranbrook Institute in lower MI.)

By Kelly Marshall (Kelly) on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 - 05:12 am:

Cindy! You are a Martha fan too. I can't see how she handled those bats though. I could not touch one!
