Mornin!

Good Morning to all-- looking at the Blast from the past- Do kids still play in the leaves as much as we did in our youth-- we made house outlines, piles to jump in and all sort of things. I realized that I never hear my students talk of playing in the leaves- perhaps I will ask them today. Have a good one!

I still play in the leaves. I rake for the exercise and when my nieces and nephews jump in, I can't help but join them!

There was an interesting article in the Sunday Oakland Press... Hancock, Tech and the Quincy Mine were mentioned, I just thought I would pass it along.

Very interesting, thanks Lori.

Used to love to watch the bats swirl under the oak trees at my old house. And, of course, love the idea of what they were eating!

Neat info on the bats, Lori. A few weekends ago, hubby and I were having a camp fire...and we saw some bats flying around...which is a little unusual around here.

Temps are supposed to get in the 70's today...so another day of hanging laundry out on the line :)

Lori, thanks for the great article about bats in the UP. Next to my personal favorite of dragonflies, bats and spiders fasinate me. (whoa, that sounds creepy, hey?)There is an organization, National Bat Conservancy out of Austin,Texas. that I've thought about joining. There is a big tourist site near Austin where each evening millions of bats leave a certain cave at sunset.I hope to see it some time.

During the late summer evenings I could watch a ballet of dragonflys, down low, and bats, on high, cleaning the insects from the pasture. Was amazing and beautiful to behold. Better then a few years ago when we lived in an old farm house. My husbands sister was visiting when at 2AM a bat decided to do a "fly over" in the upstairs hallway. She has never stayed with us again. ;o)

Since there isn't much on the What's Up tonight, would this be a good time to send my vegetable pizza receipe? Here goes, Fran from Ga....Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Gently pat roll of Crescent refrig rolls (cheap rolls don't do as well)in a 9x13 pan sprayed with olive-oil flavored cooking spray. Bake 5-7 min. but watch so it doesn't get too dark. Cool. Mix 8 oz.fat-free cream cheese, 1/3 c. fat-free mayo and 1Tbl. reduced-calorie dry "Ranch Seasoning Mix". Spread over cooled crust. Combine chopped cauliflower, broccoli. shred. carrots, diced green pepper, sliced fresh mushrooms, sliced radishes ( use amounts as you like. Most are 1/4 to 1/2 c.) Now sprinkle the whole thing with about 1/3 c. shredded, reduced-fat Cheddar cheese. Refrig.til serving, cut in pieces like a reg. pizza. Great finger food/snack. Enjoy.

Thanks Ms Katie,I will have to try that.I try to eat more veggies and also TRY and watch the calories.:) Thanks a bunch,I'll let you know how we like it. We like fresh spinach pizza. It has that type ofsauce, fresh spinach leaves, cheese on top. Fresh spinach tastes NOTHING like that horrid stuff in the can. Good in salads also. Nite all! Fran

Life is good and so are bats!
I'm glad you enjoyed the article on the bats. I had to pass it on, especially since it was about Hancock and the Quincy mine.

Batty!

RunnerLori, I love the bat :-)

Ms. Katie, I am gonna have to try your veggie pizza...it sounds delish...and besides, I love veggies.

Fran, I agree with you, fresh raw spinach is delish...I like it better than lettuce...and no salad in our house is complete without spinach leaves.
