As the seasons are changing so are the daylight hours, decreasing by several minutes each day. Photography in the darkness presents a different set of challenges, which Bob Gilreath doesn't seem to have had any problem with. He captured this shot of the sun making a rosy beginning, looking east, along the Michigan Tech Dow building on Houghton's waterfront. Ditto on the 'no problem' concept for Aimee Rathbun, who caught the sun setting beyond the Tech campus, with the lights from the new library addition in competition for the limelight. Seems like folks never tire of shots of the Portage Lift Bridge, so when I spotted this one in Aimee's Guest Gallery album, I figured it would make a nice bonus to accompany the photos in the dark. She snapped it using her new star filter…neat effect it has on the lights!

Good Morning, very nice pictures. I really like the one of the bridge, so calming and still.

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 07:29 am:

Very nice pictures this morning. Just had to check in before leaving this morning for a safer spot further north...see you all after "Wilma" leaves...I hope!

Thanks for sharing, Bob. Beautiful shots of the fall colors reflecting off the lake. Wish I was there.

Bobq, Loved the pics of your camping trip. Noticed your camper...is that a Dutchmen? If so, could you email me? There is a design flaw in certain years of Dutchmen campers, regarding the roof seal...that we found out about, the hard way...and try to pass the info onto all Dutchmen camper owners, because Dutchmen will fix it for free.

By Kristin Goetze (Krismtu81) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 10:02 am:

Bob great pictures of your camping trip. The weather looked wonderful. Thanks for posting them. This is the time of year I miss the UP the most. Aimee your shots are great too.

By Peg Hardt (Almostup) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 10:04 am:

Fantastic pics! I sure am glad we didn't spend too much time taking photos when we did our UP color tour a couple of weeks ago. Except for a few mug shots to document that we had been there, I can gaze at everyone else's beautiful pictures for our memory album. :o)

By Donald R. Elzinga (Donagain) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 10:36 am:

Bob G. I was tempted into trying to enhance one of your pictures on the link above and got this spectacular result! 1

By Shawn Rathbun (Shawnr) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 11:26 am:

Aimee graduates from MTU in December. Congrats to her, but we'll miss her beautiful shots of MTU and the Copper Country - unless she ends up with a job in the Copper Country!

By Margo (Margo) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 12:41 pm:

Beautiful pictures Aimee. By all means never stop taking pictures, they always display the love in a person.

By Jim Rathbun (Ratfelix) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 01:58 pm:

Margo you hit it right on the head! Aimee reflects her love for nature, water, the copper country, her school, even trusses(?) and all the little details of life. Her photos always make me happy - Maybe 'cause I'm her dad! :)

Great Job Aimee!

By Margo (Margo) on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 04:58 pm:

Aimee, what great pictures. Hope you find a job
in the Copper Country and continue to take pictures and share them with us. The trolls are
