Western U.P. colors aren't only in the trees this year, they're also mirrored in the waterfall pools around Bond Falls, in Ontonagon County. With the top photo, Tom Cook, seems to have captured some type of unusual phenomenon. It gives us the illusion of the water standing still just before it makes the plunge, rushing over the falls Tom's second shot proves that the water really is pouring over the rocks, forming many smaller cascades. Although you can still see a bit of the hues reflected in a section of calm waters just beyond the outcropping of rock. Definitely a scenic place to take in the autumn tinge!

Absolutly gorgeous photos! On an overcast day like today here in N.W. Illinois it's inspiring. I was lucky to spend last week in the Lac Du Flambeau area on Wis. where the colors were peak. Down here it's barely starting so I'll have a double dose of color. The wonders of our everyday lives.Thank you to you folks who bring us these photos.:)

Great pictures. My wife and I were up in UP last week, had lunch in Copper Harbor about 1:30 on Friday. Was hoping that colors would be out in Copper Harbor to get pics from above on Brockway, but the Harbor area was still all green...Did get some nice pics around copper country and down to the bridge too. Had a great time. Cheapest gas was in Baraga at $2.59 a gallon, unlike Marqutte area at $3.19, big differance there. Had a great time anyway.

lz(Llamamama), Ladysmith looks to be less than a hundred miles southwest of Lac Du Flambeau on the map, not that far. A little tidbit about the name, Lake of Flames is supposed to reflect the natives' use of flaming torches to draw the fish when fishing at night. Neat, huh? I love Wis. almost as much as the U.P. I'm a fan of August Derleth the late writer from Prairie du Sac, a prolific writer of Wis. history and novels about his hometown. Maybe someday you'll tell us about your name, Llamamama? I've been known to be rather nosey but I'm just as curious as a cat. LOL
