Good morning everyone. Hope everyone who lives in the Gulf Coast area are inland...and are safe from Rita.
Waiting for hubby to get home...we are smoking/ barbequing ribs with our friends this evening.

Fran, glad to hear that Cassie is doing better and they were able to stop her labor. Will continue to keep them in my prayers. ;)

Hey, does anyone know who won the land raffle.I bought a couple of tickets. It was in marquette county.

Toivo,
You must have had a little sand left in your eyes this morning. You gave the Early Bird Award to yourself instead of the first post on What's UP!

By Capt. Paul & Dr. Nat in Texas (Eclogite) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 11:18 am:

Hey folks,

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are fine here in Texas. The storm passed east of us and came ashore near Sabine Pass Texas on the Louisiana border. We have had some good wind gusts but hardly any rain and no structural damage to any buildings around here. We never lost power or phone service, obviously or I wouldn't be posting this message ;-)

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concerns, it is greatly appreciated. But the bottom line is that the Capt. and Dr. are very ok.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 11:23 am:

Capt. & Dr.,
Great to hear that the hurricane missed you folks. I can't imagine the thoughts you had during the past week, knowing that Rita was bearing down on you...and there was nothing you could do. Aaaah, the power of prayer ;)

Here is an unusual picture of the rare purple cuttlefish casting a hugary brow eye at a potential unsuspecting meal:

Donagain,

You are TOO FUNNY!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 01:51 pm:

Donagain,
Your are such a riot. :-)

By Donald R. Elzinga (Donagain) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 02:20 pm:

I am not sure what happened to the frog but I noticed the next day that some one had placed a nice lilly at that spot!?

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 03:18 pm:

Donagain,
Perhaps the lily was offered up to the Purple Cuttlefish God, for thanks for those frog legs?

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 03:20 pm:

Looks like the frog is ready to jump right in? Ha Ha! Not!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 03:23 pm:

Hey Bev, How ya doing? :-)

By Cindy Lee Maki (Cindylee) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 04:34 pm:

Sur5er, I think I can smell the ribs. Capt. Paul and Dr. Nat, glad to hear your alright. Have a good evening.

By Lorelei (Lorelei) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 04:53 pm:

Love the frog photo. Very, very cool. Thanks for sharing.

The autumn air smells so good in the woods right now. Why doesn't someone make candles with that smell? I told my husband, that the smell of autumn leaves is a smell that I will never forget. Especially after it rains. MMM. If you live here in the copper country, go out and smell the beauty of the woods. Right now. It's raining!!

I thought that I heard that a truck driver from Wisconsin won the wraffle.

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 09:00 pm:

Hi Renee, I'm fine, and you? I took a trip up to the wine country today...Just beautiful up there. It sounds like today's menu includes frog legs and turkey pot pie with Donagains tomatoe chutney.....Mmmmmmmm good ! :)

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Saturday, September 24, 2005 - 10:16 pm:

Cindylee...no wonder you could smell those ribs cooking...the smoker was cranking out on our back deck. Yummy!

Bev, so you almost had some Wild Turkey today, eh.

By Danbury (Danbury) on Sunday, September 25, 2005 - 03:38 am:

Would that be turkey from the RoadKill Café? :)
