Sheriff Ron and The Posse helped kick off the Torch Run for Special Olympics yesterday at noon in Copper Harbor. Some of these guys are sore this morning, including yours truly. I'm the one with the Pasty shirt and Fedex hat. The Sheriff has the torch in the top photo, while he passed it off to one of the lady runners as we started down US-41.

The guys in The Posse include (L-R top row) Richard Schaefer, Ron Lahti, Richard Mintken, Charlie "I Love Pasties" Hopper, Bruce Olson, (L-R bottom row) Mike Dudenas, and Jim Wachowski, Pasty.NET members all (except R.M). Jim's wife Barb Wachowski took the pictures and cheered us on. One Posse/Pasty.NET member missing from the run was Tom Scanlan (it'll cost you a buck, Tom).

Our best wishes to all of the runners along the 500+ mile route over the next few days!

Great job those guys do. I know Ron L. from grade school in Mohawk. He sure grew up and strong from then. To see him run like that makes me jealous, cuz I can barely walk... But then again he's a couple years younger than me-haha!!!!

The Special Olympics was wonderful for my sister. Congratulations and deepest thanks to all participants for their great contribution.

Bravo! A good cause. 'Tis the season of the
run. I'll be walking/running in a 10km event
this weekend called the Terry Fox Run. The
money goes towards funding cancer
research. This is the 25th year of this event
and my 15th year of doing it.

I don't think I'll send a picture to pasty.com--
a) because I wouldn't know how to do it and
b) because it wouild be scary!

Way to go! It was enough to mosey in the humidity. Perhaps the cause caused the extra spring in the step. Wonderful!

Looks like a girl is in the lead. Are the guys just being polite or can the girls really run faster? Looks to me like The Posse can't catch the girl. :)

You've got that right, Beverly. I didn't catch her name either, but she is a dental hygenist who works in the corrections system, AND she is a marathon runner. Our team of determined Posse runners were out of steam at the 5 mile mark, but she was fresh as a daisy.

She is probbly much younger also. With the exception of Charlie the rest of the posse members are old enough to be the sherrifs father.
A group of retired guys in darn good shape for their age:)
