Since Friday represents the end of the week for many, I figured this unique sunset shot from Olivia Bartlett would be a fitting way to close out the week and begin the weekend! That's unmistakably the Keweenaw Upper Entrance light and some McLain Park visitors silhouetted, out there on the breakwall. Scenes like this aren't exactly an everyday occurrence, here in the U.P., but often enough to make you believe such a backdrop prompted the coining of ...'It doesn't get any better than this!'
If you're looking for something outstanding to do this weekend, be sure to visit the Houghton County Fair, where you'll find something for everyone in the family to enjoy!

Wow! What a gorgeous shot! We will be heading north (although not this far north) in one week for the Mackinac Bridge Walk and lots of golf, finally. Can't wait. We had hoped to make it up a couple more times this summer, but it went by too fast. Thanks for keeping us in touch through your pictures. Have a nice day everyone.

Oh my! That';s a beautiful sunset. Last evening's was good also, on a lower tone of loveliness. I sat for an hour watching the clouds turn a soft gold, then rose, then mauve then fade out.

I think that's George Washington and his cronies in the beautiful sunset picture. Looks like 'em. From where we sit, on the Aura shore (that's not a pun, eastern shore of Keweenaw Bay), we do see beautiful sunsets almost every night. Whenever we think there won't be an amazing one, we're surprised at the last minute! Sunset and hummingbird pictures have to be the most typical in our galleries! (And sunsets with hummingbirds in the foreground.)

Excellent Picture Olivia! I simply love it. Believe it or not, this is the first Lake Superior sunshet I have seen all year. That is a sad fact, since I live here.
Lovely sunset picture. We are having a wild time here....courtesy of Katrina. The hurricane blew into Miami/Dade last night and we are getting action from the outer bands of the storm. I keep thinking, if this is what it's like here, how it must be just 50 or so miles away in Homestead and Miami. Strange thing is ,if the storm passes thru by this evening, we may end up with a spectacular sunset here. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

That's right, Dr. Nat and I are in The Lone Star State now. We have had a wild time this summer as well. In between moving from Nevada to Texas, we also spent 5 weeks in the U.P. and Wisconsin on research projects. We are not totally settled in yet, but we hope to make the PastyCam a regular part of our day once again......

Oh, the Keweenaw sunsets! Often the campers at McLain pull out their lawn chairs and sit along the bluff to see the "Greatest Show on Earth." There is the other park on the opposite side of the entry where that show can also be viewed. Have you locals driven out to the North Entry/Stanton Township Park to see what the Superfund folks have done? 'Tis truly amazing! I don't have a digital camera so cannot share the views.

Thanks. I had already looked at the website for the fair. I know the fair is in Hancock. I'm wondering WHERE in Hancock. I didn't see it on the site.
