Morning everybody.

Our Mary Drew sure gets up early! Maybe enjoying the beautiful sunrises with a cup of coffee? Today I am having saffron toast with my coffee and sunrise.
There's no place like home!

Good morning everyone :) Now this is my type of morning...it's only 50 degrees outside and it's so crisp outside that you can clearly see the stars. Enjoying a hot cup of coffee cuddled up on the back deck, watching the moon set. Does it get any better than this?

Why yes it does Sur5er, and that starts for me in less than 24 hrs. We leave for the Copper Country Friday morning. I can't wait to leave this desk behind and switch it out for swimming at Big Traverse or fishing on Rice Lake. How are the blueberries coming along. Ill have the kids pick a coffee can full , then make them pancakes. See ya'll up there.

Brad, the blueberries are ready for picking around Rice Lake and Traverse. We picked 8 1/2 qts on Sunday in 2 hours so you might want to bring ice cream buckets instead of coffee cans. Just be careful where you drive off the road, places that were accessible by car last year are bottomless sand traps this year!

Thanks for the info. I heard about the cars getting stuck earlier this week.

Nothing is more funny than seeing all the backsides up in the air while picking the berries. hahahaha

Dave,I knew right away whose words those were! He sure described life around Dollar Bay (and the C.C.)perfectly!!! Sure picked a lot of blueberries up on Bluebery Hill.My Mom made some super pies,jam and canned berries from them.To come home from school and have a slice of still warm homemade bread with "our" butter and homemade jam was delish!

2 weeks ago we were driving from Eagle Harbor to Eagle River and stopped to take some pictures, looked down and found ripe blueberries! Only a few, but my kids got to taste their first Michigan blueberries...smaller and so much more flavorful than the ones we get here in Jersey.

All the talk of Michigan blueberries and Saffron Bread toast are making me hungry for U.P. Food If I talk about Saffron Bread or hot water bread or Pasty in Ohio they all look at me like Im speaking a different Language

Boy did that bring back memories.... Goose Neck pond, arbutis, reminded me of life on the ole farm near Mattie Mattson's farm and picking apples off his trees. My mom made us bring them back because we didn't get permission. I was sent to the door to tell them what we did and both he and the Mrs. laughed so hard. They told us to keep them so my mom made them 2 pies. Those were the good ole days for sure !
