This colorful toad seems to be telling Ashley Byykkonen something quite serious, with just his eyes and expression. Maybe telling her to make sure and photograph his good side! The biggest difference between a frog and a toad is the skin, with a frog having smooth, slimy feeling skin and the toad having warty, dry skin, like this fellow here. With both species abundant here in the Keweenaw and having those characteristic bulging eyes, it's been something that has fascinated me since childhood…watching a frog or a toad blink those beady little eyes!

I have come across toads in the spring when I am turning over the compost heap or digging the vegetable garden. They always look like they got an attitude and dont think much of us humans. But I love them anyway!

Mary, thanks for helping me out.I appreciate it. Now if I can only get it to work!

Funny looking little critter. I like the little tree frogs. One used to go sit in the hole of our bird house. He looked so cute!

I think this toad looks kind of sad. Maybe he wishes he had someone to play with.

Hi
I trying to find out if anyone knows if Faber Mccormack is still in the area. My father Joe McCormack was a cousin if Faber. I know Faber had six kids and was married. My father passed away a few years ago and my mother lost contact. If anyone knows of Faber and his family please e-mail me at Garyattexas @aol.com.

Thank You
Gary McCormack

Is it true if you touch a toad you can get a wart or is it an old wifes tale ?

I hope that nobody will care if I change the subject...I guess I should have written this yesterday, but I was out of my computers reach.

My husband and I were camping at McLain late last week. On Friday evening we were fortunate to witness 5 sail boats sailing east on Lake Superior after the sunset. They were all sailing out of the canal and it was quite a site to see. Does anyone have any idea what that was about?

We were thankful to have the opportunity to visit again...it is always a special time!
