By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 08:05 am:
On the fourth Sunday of July in 2001, at the suggestion of Nancy Nelson, we began this weekly feature known as Shoebox Memories. For so many families, an old shoebox in the closet or attic contains treasures from the past, waiting to be discovered. It is my pleasure each Sunday to present these memories, often dealing with the mining era, lighthouse history, landmarks, notable events, etc., etc. I realized this morning that the Pasty Cam itself is becoming a shoebox of sorts, with tens of thousands of pictures which may be referenced decades from now, recalling the turn of another century.

Can't believe I'm the first post!! Love the pictures of the kids. Is the top blue-eyed cutie the baby with the brown mouth in the group shot with the ice creams?
By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 08:30 am: Bone chilling photo's and memories to relax and chill today. By Patti - TN (Patti) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 08:54 am:
Thanks for posting the 'swimsuit edition' picture of my girls...Kaylee & Kelsey. That picture is almost 10 years old now, and to show how time marches on..and that they have grown up (sadly for mom, who feels old...) here's a pic from their trip to the UP just a few weeks ago. We enjoyed perfect UP weather for beaching & boating, and have returned to sweltering Middle Tennessee Heat. By Jane Miller (Jbmiller) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 09:04 am: 12 more days and I will be relaxing on Mud lake can't wait. The pic of the kids in the snow, is sure a cooling way to find relief from down state heat. By Mike Madaus (Wkmikem) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 09:16 am: Great pictures!! You can't go wrong with pictures of cute babies. By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 11:50 am:
Patti, your girls are very attractive but it is hard to watch them get older. We only have our children for such a short time. I guess the important thing is to enjoy them while we have them and cheer them on. Then we have our memories....and,if we are lucky, grandchildren. By elm (Grampy) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 01:11 pm: Grandmother feels old also, but very happy to have the girls. They keep you thinking young. By Lizbeth Benson (Lizidaho) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 01:17 pm: What a great bunch of spontanious giggles that today's Shoe Box pictures brought to my home! In a few years let's match up these with actual growing up pictures. By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 01:53 pm:
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday, a little humid today. 80 degrees here in Houghton. Staying indoors with the A/C on watching the NASCAR By Patti - TN (Patti) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 04:16 pm: The swimsuits in the snow picture was taken the first week of June, on what John Dee calls "The Laurium Glacier"...Maybe he remembers which winter was more harsh....'94-95; or '95-96? By Therese Carson (Therese) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 07:40 pm: Oof! It is very warm and humid this evening. I could change into a swimsuit and drive over to the lake to swim, but am opting for putting the snow angel photo on my desktop. I tried doing that ten years ago with my young niece. We fell backwards into soft powder and completely disappeared. Powder was 3 feet deep, and it was a long way to the surface and air. By 69 TOOT (Flyindamooney) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 10:04 pm:
94 in Detroit area tonight......the Big Lake looks mighty inviting...... By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Sunday, July 24, 2005 - 10:11 pm: 102 degrees at Miller Beach in Indiana today. How many more days until it snows? By Bob Gilreath (Bobg) on Monday, July 25, 2005 - 09:03 am:
wow great shots, the first one is a fantastic view. By J.T. Toivola (Joyce) on Monday, July 25, 2005 - 12:40 pm:
I am reminded of my own carefree days of summer, when everything was free and a glimpse of the glint of water brought palpitations. By mrsrock630 (Mrsrock630) on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 01:21 pm: I checked John Dee historical weather and the winter was 95-96 with 329.1 inches of snow. Pasty and John Dee are my daily fixes for a stuck in Wisconsin upper wannabe. |
