Good Morning and GO PISTONS!

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 07:36 am:

We welcome one of our newest sponsors, a popular Copper Country establishment which appeared on the fourth day of the Pasty Cam, back in 1998. Lindell's is also a convenient HotSpot where you can connect free of charge to Pasty.NET next time you travel to the Keweenaw.

Anyone traveling to to the UP should definitely stop at Lindell's in Lake Linden.

We never miss it. It is absolutely charming and does give a feel for 'how it was.' Very good food.

By T. Peters on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 07:50 am:

Good morning,

Can anyone suggest some church services in the Copper Harbor, Eagle Harbor, Eagle River area? Thanks.

By joesyopper on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 08:11 am:

T. Peters: The brothers of the Jam have services on Saturday and Sunday. Go to Pasty's home page and click Jampot at Jacob Falls.

Wow, I fell in love with the old fashioned fridge at Lindell's. What I wouldn't give to have one of those in my kitchen.
Two more days until my truck tires cross over the Michigan state line, and I am home...if only for a few days.
Miss Katie: hubby loves the pool and I am sure it will be one of the first things he packs up when we move to the UP.

I remember Lindell quite well, worked there as a janitor when I was in high school, good memories. Frank P.

Yooper,
I love your pictures! Where do you get them?

By Charles in Adrian, MI on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 11:38 am:

Esky used to have the Boston Shoppe, and Green Bay used to
have Kaap's downtown. Long-gone now, but, boy, does Lindell's
bring back sweet memories when you go in there. A wonderful
place. I bet even one of those fiercesome badgers would mellow
out if he wandered into Lindell's and got a soda.

By SDC, Ferndale, MI on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 11:50 am:

I LOVE Lindells. Its so good to see the owners have left it looking just as it looked for years. Is the dimestore still there in Lake Linden? Another one of my favorite places. A lady named Nancy use to work there and she was so nice when my mom and I use to go shopping when we lived up there.

By Fran,Ga on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 11:58 am:

I love Lindell's also. It is such a beautiful old buiding. My Mom worked for them in the Candy Kitchen many years ago.I think it was next door. She also worked for them in Hancock.

By Kay, La Crosse WI on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 02:55 pm:

Are there many shops in Lake Linden? We are on vacation to the UP on July 5th and enjoy doing the 'tourist' thing, exploring small towns. I know that Copper Harbor has a lot of shops, but are there any other small towns in the Western UP that are similar? Thanks.

Mary says: Lake Linden doesn't have the number of shops that Copper Harbor does, but we do boast a few in town. One that is also a Pasty Cam sponsor, UP North Country Gifts. There are several others but they do not have web sites. You can check out some of the businesses listed for Lake Linden right here: Lake Linden.net Business Directory. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at: mdrew@pasty.com

I was Born in Lake Linden..Raised in Esky..live in Green Bay ..I missed the Boston Shoppe years but heard many a story..I remember Kaap's here from visits from the U P..But how can anything be better than "The Lindell" ..
I understand the people from www.raildreams.com bought it..does anyone know for sure.

By joesyopper on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 05:59 pm:

Kay: There are no towns similar to Copper Harbor in the Western end of the U.P. But, Mall of Americas is only a five hour drive in Minneapolis. Enjoy.

By HB on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 08:19 pm:

How many Calumet guys remember standing by the Cozy Garden in Laurium "thumbing" a ride to Lake Linden? How about when there was a good crowd after a dance and a few of the guys "lit up" their car tires on the main street. "Soupy", the police chief, would come through Lindell's and order the Calumet guys to leave town.

I remember Nancy at the store across the street too.

If you lived in Lake Linden, you called M-26 "Calumet Hill", but if you lived in Calumet-Laurium, it was known as "Lake Linden Hill"
Kind of figures I guess....

By Trish, WA on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 09:23 pm:

Wow, Lindell's is one beautiful buidling! It's good to see
historic preservation at its best. what a gem.

By keweenaw traveler on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 09:26 pm:

Can we have a UP map posted permanently on this website
home page ? Just a suggestion, as there are so many place
names mentioned, and I'd like to know where they all are.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP on Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 11:15 pm:

Some map pages off the home page would be really nice, 'eh, Toivo? Maybe you and Charlie could work it out for us. Kiitos! Good idea, kt. It's 11:16 and still 73°. Hot and muggy here in Cornell.

By Dave of Mohawk on Friday, June 24, 2005 - 01:06 am:

1:00 a.m.; 83 degrees at Houghton County Airport.

By B in gb on Friday, June 24, 2005 - 08:29 am:

How about showing one of those old Keweenaw tourist maps that were used as placemats years ago..Good easy to understand map of most all local towns.
