I was up at the scenic turnout on Quincy Hill this morning and was disappointed with the view. Or should I say lack of view. Some of the trees have grown so tall that much of the canal is no longer visable. It would be nice if they were taken down. But if they're on private land, I guess the owner has no responsibility to remove them.

Friday was the Relay for Life in our area. It is a relay to raise money for the American Cancer SOciety. I have to say it was the most moving experience I have ever had. We had luminaries (with both survivors and victims names on them) around the local high school track and started the relay at 6:00 pm Friday and went all night until 10:00 am on Sat. I have to say the most moving part was the survivor walk. My husband is a survivor and I was in tears as he walked around the track with around 2,000 others. The very last walk was reversed and symbolized reversing cancer's effects on all of us-not just the victims. Everyone has been touched at sometime by this dreaded disease. We raised over $306,000 and was a good way to do it. Sorry for rambeling on but this is my first time and I am hooked!!

Thanks for the blast from the past. I love revisiting Dan Urbanski's talent. I think of him everyday when I look at my calender.

I also think the trees should be removed to view the Quincy Lookout better. But, if it is private property, we can't do anything about it.
Maybe the owner will so something about it themselves.

Ten minutes ago the Oregon State University Beavers beat S.
California in the final regional game.. The Beavers now go to
Omaha to the College Baseball World Series. Last time OSU was
there was in 1952.

Go Beavers! Please watch ESPN for some great college baseball.

Question: Can someone help me out here? In today's Cam Notes re the Huron Islands, the text of all the messages extends out beyond my computer screen so that I have to scroll to the right and then to the left to read the entire message. How can I fix this, or can I fix this? I thought perhaps I could change my "view", but then my tool bar up at the top got messed up. I finally found "restore" and got it back to normal. I thought one of you computer guru's out there could give me the solution. I haven't had my computer even a year yet so I am still learning. Thanks in advance for any help someone would like to offer. I do appreciate it!

By Fran,Ga on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 09:28 pm:

I am interested to know what causes that also.I have had it happen to me and somehow it got back to normal- no thanks to me. It sure is a pain when that happens.

It has been miserably hot and humid here. Dave H,Corryton, is it any coooler up there in the Smokies?

By Roz in GR on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 10:40 pm:

AJ--Up on the tool bar, click View, then Font Size--try making it one size smaller and see if that works. If not, go back and go a size smaller. Hope it works!

By Roz on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 10:42 pm:

AJ--oops! make that check the text size--that's where you can change the size of your font

Re: the question about screen aberations:

Tonight when I caught up on Cam Notes (been climbing towers all day), I saw the loooong link which had been posted. Whenever a long unbroken link is spelled out, it causes the column width to spread that wide. I simply edited it to say "click here"

You can post a long cumbersome link, reducing it to an easy phrase by using this structure in your message:

\link{http://www.pasty.net,Pasty.NET}

...which appears like this:

Pasty.NET

Yes Fran it has been humid here also.Hotest day of the year so far comming tomorrow I just heard.I been in the pool alot with the Gran kids.We been getting rain showers each day for afew in a row on and off thew out the day, then it get's realy humid.
I also was up on Quincy Hill in 2003 and thought it was a real bummer the trees blocked the view.

Charlie Back in Eagle River, Yes, I must confess (blush, blush) that was me with the long link that messed up the configuration of the Cam Note page. Sorry folks.
