It's a well known fact that when a woman is in a family way, she gets a nesting notion... feathered mothers are no exception to the rule. Now that Robin red breasts are back in the U.P. for the summer season, they've been busy finding suitable housing arrangements of their own. This robin found a dandy spot that will help keep her babies warm and out of harms way! She sits so patiently, warming and guarding her nest of eggs, taking a break to perhaps stretch her wings and garner some grub. At which point, Ken Scheibach, seizes the opportunity to capture a shot of the hatchlings to be! Have you ever seen such a beautiful shade of blue as the hue of a Robin's egg?
The countdown to Pasty Fest 2005 continues with 18 days remaining before the aroma of fresh baked pasties fill the air in Calumet. July 2nd is the big day, so if you've been hankering for these delicious U.P. specialties, you better plan on being one of the first 400 at Aggasiz Park. Then simply hand over the special coupon you clipped from the paper and you'll be rewarded with your very own free pasty, served up by the Pasty Central crew. There will be a number of activities going on to entertain everyone as they savor the flavor!
Don't forget today is Flag Day and you should show your respect for our Flag by flying her proudly!
