This morning the weather was on the main page and now it's gone. What's up?

By Ms. Katie on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 04:50 pm:

I was surfing (is that what they call it) thru Roger K."s photos last night and came across a wonderful pic of saffron bread. Can't say if I ever remember having it at grandma Slattery's when we visited back in 40's and 50's. Would anyone have a receipe for such? Would love trying it. Thanks ahead

By joesyopper on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 05:23 pm:

type in google saffron bread and you will have all the recipes you want. Tony's saffron bread in Larieum is the best you can get.

"Ditto" on Tony's saffron bread!!!!

By RCM on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 06:35 pm:

Turner's Bakery in Calumet would make some real
good saffron bread and rieskka. I don't know if
they are still open or not. Will be checking in
about a week and a half.

By dang it on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 07:09 pm:

Turner's is no longer...

By FRNash/PHX, AZ on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 08:08 pm:

Wasn't that formerly Thurner's in Calumet?

By John-Canton Mi on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 08:16 pm:

Saffron, more expensive than gold per pound and well worth it. Mom in South Range still makes a great loaf at 84 and always gives me a couple to take home. Great plain or with
butter.

By downstate don on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 08:22 pm:

Thurners it is...sorry about that. Can't be too
many bakeries left in Calumet.

Sur5er,
Did hubby get a ticket today for backing up to the store? Keep us posted.
I also enjoy your story telling. Pay no mind to the stix in the muds.

By pasty cam reader on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 08:41 pm:

Excuse me, but I think Kevin k should take back what he just said, I feel it to be insulting to the rest of us!!! We are not stix in the mud!!!

By Shirley B. Illinois on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 09:52 pm:

what's the size of the king salmon and chinook coming into Huron Bay and Witz Marine?

By I Agree on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 10:16 pm:

Well said Pasty cam reader. I didn't think this was a sight for just a few to try and take over.

By Beverly, San Jose on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 10:34 pm:

Hi Kevin K of Lodi. I also like sur5er's story telling. You can always count on a Finn to come up with a good one. I hope she continues.

By Yooper on Monday, May 16, 2005 - 10:48 pm:

I enjoy Sur5er's stories too. Great lady and always has something nice to say. Keep 'em comin, Sur5er.

I don't think anyone is ''trying to take over''. Why would anyone want to take over a message board? Just because someone is friendly and shares great stories?

I think I've come up with a solution for the few who don't enjoy some posts. As soon as you see the persons name who you have a problem with...just scroll past it. Why shoot hurtful comments towards anyone. You know the saying...if ya don't have anything good to say then don't say nuttin at all. Lets all be friends!! That's what pasty.com is all about, hey!

Thanks for asking. No ticket. Had to do a rodeo in reverse. I don't remember doing that for my CDL. Counting down until tires hit Michigan pavement.

Note to Sharon Smith: Ming Gardens has closed but Ming's Buffet on Sharon Ave. is now called Ming's Asian Bistro where you can order either buffet or the Ming Garden menu. Hope all will be OK with you and that you'll be trucking up to the UP soon. Know that we all wish you the best.

By Kevin K, Lodi, Ca. on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 - 10:12 am:

Well said, Happy.

rollindownthehighway, you and Sur5er keep us posted. Love the stories.

Hey Beverly, hope you are doing well.

Have a good day all.
