Good morning...or should I be saying 'good night'? Pulled another all nighter working on paperwork for a case...now I am ready to go to bed for the night/day ;)

Mornin', looks like school is almost out for most. Us too. Graduated Luis yesterday--great kid.

Just checking out yesterdays photos. I think I'm related to Stan Spruce. I'm Patricia Ann Spruce Porter's daughter. Stan are you related to Al Spruce who is my grandfather? His father's name was William and is buried across the bay from my mom. My mom is buried at Assinins, just last year. My sister and I visit this site often, it's wonderful to see the Indian Community representd!!

Well it looks like we may be moving back home to Michigan before three years. YES!!!!

Hubby had another 'sign' this week that it is getting to be dat time to move back home. Dis time da 'sign' came in da form of a police officer, who read hubby da riot act for backing up da semi to one of da local stores for a delivery.

Seems da police officer...and now da entire police department have come up with different ideas on how hubby is supposed to back a 60 foot trailer into a small parking lot, eh. We have offered the officers each a chance to use da semi to demonstrate der backing up strategies. Dey each declined. I wonder why, eh.

So for da past week, da company...da police department...and da store owner have been going around and around (hopefully not in dat parking lot, eh, because I suppose dat is illegal or if not, will become illegal).

In da middle of all of dis, hubby looks at me and says, "I suppose dis is a sign, eh."

"A sign?" I asked hubby.

"Yeh, a sign. Dis is a sign dat we need to move back to Michigan, eh. You know, people in Indiana just don't appreciate truck drivers and what they do to get their loads to people, like da folks in Michigan."

Amen to dat.

So I got anudder 'sign' dis afternoon dat we may be moving back to Michigan really soon. Dis time da 'sign' came in da form of an email from da captain of da police department here in Indiana. He says dat if hubby backs up his semi to da loading dock of da store on Monday night, dat he will be ticketed.

Well you know what I told da captain. " Well, I hope your squad car isn't behind da back wheel of da semi when it backs up, eh."

Boy, all these signs. Da UP is definately calling, eh. :)

I hope that you are trying to be "funny" and not mocking people who may have immigrated to this country. People in the U.P. are educated and the majority use proper grammer, believe it or not.

Unamused-I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. People in the UP aren't stupid! Proper grammar would be appreciated.

This sounds like a really good start for a book. I have to apologize first. I know its not nice to laugh at someone else's trouble, but I couldn't help but chuckle when reading your story. I have never heard of a Police dept with their heads so far up you know where. I've been in law enforcement for 29 years and have seen and heard a lot of things, but this is a new one for me. Just about every town I know has trucks that block the street for a minute or two backing into loading docks for deliveries. Its just part of doing business. A lot of Police Depts would probably even provide traffic control to make it go safely. I've never heard of one wanting to ticket the trucker. They must do things differently in Indiana. There is some universal logic they will understand. If they won't let the trucks back into the loading docks to deliver goods, the stores can't do business, and subsequently will go out of business. The city will lose tax revenue and will have to cut expenses. The first place cities always want to cut expenses is public safety, ie- police officers laid off. That they will understand. Arguing with them is probably a waste of time. I would go directly to the Mayor and council. They are likely to be business people and thus be more sympathetic to your plight. After all, it could be their store next. Hope it works out all right. Keep us informed as the saga continues.

I too was in law enforcement... in Michigan :) Howdy. No offense taken...it was meant to make others chuckle...because from a law enforcement perspective I laughed so hard when hubby called me and told me this. "Yeah, righty oh"...followed by, "Only in Indiana..."
Yes, it has kept my friends in law enforcement laughing and also scratching thier heads, this past week...it is too unbelievable. Between tears of laughter, we keep telling hubby, "please don't take offense to other officers, on account of this one."

Counting down to the time we move back home to Michigan...and to a place where we understand the laws. Sigh.
