good morning! I'm headed back up to the U.P. on Friday, can't wait to smell the air change as I go over the bridge!

Oh, another note...I am going to visit my Grandmother who is celebrating her 95th birthday on May 9th. Her name is Gertrude Flink, she and my Grandfather used to own Flinks Corner Store, (which they sold in the early 60's and it became the B&J) in Marquette. Anyone have any memories of this? I would love to hear about them.

Ms. Katie.......I have been a beach comber forever! Have spent every summer of my life in Jacobsville on Keweenaw Bay, except for the one when our first son was born. Great spot on the Lake. During that time, I have collected driftwood, beach glass, metal, pottery shards and who knows what but it wasn't until about 6 or 7 years ago that it turned into more than just collecting! Stix 'n Stonz sort of naturally evolved as friends asked me to make them things similar to mine. So I now design jewelry and furnishings using our natural resources!! I noticed that Pasty is hi-lighting my web-site today. Check it out and then we can talk. The Einerlie use to give classes on making lamp shades out of birch bark. Not sure if they talk about other uses. Ahhhh, found object art. There's no better tranquilizer than a walk on the beach!

A very good friend of mine has eaten a Porky [note the singular]. It wasn't good. He's wilderness survival expert who practices by spending days at time in the woods with just the shirt on his back. Porky was on the menu during a month-long trek in Alaska and it was only one step above boot leather on the survival food scale.

So this is what I was waiting for. I left kind of early for work and you weren't up yet. Great shot of the river with a rainbow. Makes you want to smile and keep on going.

Wow Mary, Great idea for Mother's Day. If hubby asks me where I want to go for Mother's Day, I will be sure to tell him, "well, you might want to fill up da gas tank and head due north fer a few hundred miles. When you hit Lake Superior, we're there." :)

Does anyone know how George Hite is doing? His Web Site was last updated on April 24th. I hope he is O.K.

Six out West. Boy you have the best of two worlds!UP in the summer. My mothers family was from Hubbell but no more connections there except... my soul! Have some favorite earrings a sister-in-law made from Gar (fish) scales years ago. Your jewlery pieces are gorgeous. Now I need to figure some way to use all my little driftwood pieces artistically.Keep me in mind if anything comes up. Thank you. Wish I were able to sit down and share ideas some day.

Hi Stix

This is one of your Bootjack Buddies. Hope to see you back in the UP soon. The spring flowers are really starting to pop up all over and the leaves are popping out on the trees. Getting ready for the summer folks to return. Hint- this is someone who shares the same 1st name with you !!
