Mary Drew at Pasty Central on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 06:34 am:

The last couple weeks we've been seeing quite a bit of gray with the leaves still holding out for some warmer weather. Steve Pipesh has captured a pretty good representation of what the trees are doing with a the few nicer days and the rain we've had this week here in the Keweenaw. Of course different areas of the U.P. are in various stages of maturing, but if you squint a bit, you can see those trees across this lake have a hint of light green, indicating the budding leaves sprouting out! Hallelujah, that must mean summer is on its way!

By Bob on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 07:14 am:

coming down the hill into Tamarack city looking east yesterday was beautiful.

the aspen had light green hues and maples light red hues of expanding buds against the dark background of the Huron mountians in the distance.

It looked just like a painting........of course I didn't a camera with me. lol

What a lovely spot. I was at the dentist yesterday having a tooth filled (yuck), and I tried to picture favorite spots in the U.P. in my mind while the dentist drilled. Didn't feel a thing.
