maijaMI is soooo right! I found a name listed there that was a friend of the family. Really hit me to the core. I was very young when she was alive and she did not talk much of the event in my prescence, but I do remembering thinking "she was extrodinary because of what she had lived through and went on to face life as normally as possible". I was always in awe of her.

Your post reminded me of the time my daughter and I went up to da Kaweenaw...just because. We went up three times one year in the spring..twice in April and then once in about mid May, to watch the iceburgs come into shore...see the waterfalls...and of course to see if we could spot the bears coming out of hibernation.

The one time we were up on Brockway, the locals were gathered at the top with their binoculars, watching the eagles. My daughter and I joined the locals and sat there for some time, taking in the incredible sight of all the eagles soaring in the sky...it was so amazing.

Went half way up Mountain Drive last Sunday, had to turn around and come back. Probably could have made it with the pickup but we had the car. I'm sure it's open by now.

When you have a truck with 4 wheel drive, every road is open...some may be a little more challenging than others...but they are always open ;)

When hubby and I first moved to Indiana, I asked him, "What's with all da cars? What do dey do when it snows?"

Be aware that 4WD allows you to get stuck better.

Right on Roudy,

I thought I was bullet-proof, until I got stuck last year in my baby Escape FWD. The Deere skidster with tracked cleats never fails, but get lousy fuel mileage and at 20 mph, and it's a slow go.

Roudy. That was my thought to when I saw that comment.

Lived in the Keweenaw all my life never needed a 4-wheel drive, and I live in the country. Just need to know how to drive.

But Roudy, think of the fun you have getting stuck when you drive a 4WD...I mean, you really have to be creative to have gotten stuck to begin with :) You know, a car gets stuck in some of the most boringest of places like the driveway for example. With a truck, you're out looking for fun ;)

Mr. Bill, too funny about cruisin in a Deere...now dat's one heck of an expensive set of wheels, eh. How many miles to a gallon do those babies get? And what's the fastest you ever had it..on open road? :)

Mr. Bill, what is a Deere skidster with track cleats? I have no idea what that is.

Farmer Bill is referring to a John Deere Tractor. You know on heavy earth moving equipment, instead of tires, they have track cleats? They make track cleats for farm tractors too...that go over the tire rims on the tractor...from front to back, on either side of the tractor.

You're more than welcome. For years, I lived in the country in Michigan...where John Deere's had the right of way on the road. Come to think of it, the sound I went to sleep to, during planting and harvest times, was the sound of the tractors in the fields.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment about my posts.

And Danbury...just how did you explain da puddle dat ate mama's car, to her?
