I noticed from the National Weather Service that the Sturgeon River is starting to flood near Chassell. I know that flooding is a common occurance there. But that got me wondering if the Portage Canal has ever flooded. Anyone know?

By pungvait i on Thursday, April 7, 2005 - 10:47 am:

Portage Lake is connected to Lake Superior - it would take a lot of water to ake a noticeable difference

Ok , Where did the web cam go , I need a fix Bad

By Susan, Fl on Thursday, April 7, 2005 - 12:56 pm:

Speaking of needing a fix badly....hate to be mean to all of you yooperwannabes (other than this one occasion :)) but guess what UPS just dropped off at my Clearwater Florida home...you got it...pasties and secret sauce! Bet you can't guess what's for dinner tonight?! Yum!

By sur5er on Thursday, April 7, 2005 - 03:32 pm:

Susan,

I took a quick double take at the time of your post,"what's Susan doing posting this late in the day...is she working another one of those 25 hour work days" :)

OOOOOOOlala about your pasties being delivered today...betcha can't wait for dinner tonight, eh.

Anoter reason Survivor misses Michigan: Ok, folks raise your hand if you have ever done this (and be honest). It's your day off work and you're bored...next thing you know you throw your cooler in the back of your truck/car, and jump on I-75 and head for da UP so you can do "Da Pasty Run" and load up your deep freezer. Only true Michiganers understand the fun and pride in being able to tell co-workers the next day at work, "I went up to da UP yesterday for some pasties, eh."

Ok folks, (and be honest) how many of you have lied about the pasty count in the deep freezer, or hidden that last valuable pasty from your loved one?

Enjoy those pasties tonight, Susan. :)

is the bridge cam stuck on last Monday?

By Susan, Fl on Thursday, April 7, 2005 - 09:16 pm:

Sur5er...had some extra training to do this week...crisis intervention stuff....so had to flex off today and a couple of hours tomorrow. The oven just beeped...ready to stick those yummy pasties in...30 minutes from now Mum and I will be chowing down on those wonderful pieces of pasty perfection from the Stillwater Gang! (Doing dinner late tonight because Mom is out carousing...playing Euchre until around 9:30 - 10:00) (You see, while she's out I snuck in to "her" computer for a minute just to check up on things and rub it in a bit!) :)

By sur5er on Friday, April 8, 2005 - 01:06 am:

Susan,

Loved crisis intervention training...hope it's not boring for you.

Wow, you're mom sounds like a party woman. Late nights and Euchre too! Oh my.

See....that's another thing we're gonna have to do when we get up to da UP...china parties and Euchre nights. I dunno why it is, but no one in Indiana plays Euchre...hmmmmm.

Hope you and Mum enjoy those pasties tonight. Yuuuummy! :)

Mat: Yup, the bridge cam has been stuck since Monday.

Anyone know where Maija is?

By Beverly, San Jose on Friday, April 8, 2005 - 02:30 am:

I'm surprised at you ser5er, why make a trip to the UP for pasties, when you can get them thru the mail so cheap. With the cost of gas that everyone is complaining about is it cost effective? Am I missing the point here? :) Why travel behind all those gas fumes, when all you have to do is open your front door? :)

By danbury on Friday, April 8, 2005 - 02:55 am:

Wonderin: go to CamNotes, 07:05, pick up her E-Mail and ask her! ;)

By Beverly, San Jose on Friday, April 8, 2005 - 03:11 am:

danbury, the yea and nay of the novel by Dan Brown...'The Da Vinci Code'...the brain teasers, anagrams, and number puzzles....would this have anything to do with some of your cryptic messages? :)

By sur5er on Friday, April 8, 2005 - 03:15 am:

Beverly,

Aaaaaaaah...but you miss the point. It's the excitement of crossing over the Mighty Mac, and crossing into da UP. Where's your sense of adventure, girlfriend? :)

Besides, once you get past Saginaw, the exhaust fumes from all that city traffic disappears, and you can open the car windows and enjoy the fresh air ;)

Wonderin: Maija posted on Cam Notes, just yesterday...I think.

By Pass 2 bridges to get there and crack a left on Friday, April 8, 2005 - 05:41 am:

Sur5er: I can understand the need to drive to da U.P. for pasties. Crossing the Big Mac and driving to the Copper Country is well worth the trip. Not only can you indulge in a scrumptious pasty, but have the most wonderful view all the way there. Don't forget to stop at da Hilltop for a sweet roll and chocolate oatmeal bar! Yum!!

Pass 2 bridges to get there and crack a left: Now dat's the spirit! :) :)
