We do get very wet, but we wear a combination of dry and wet gear to keep us warm while on the river. Half the fun is getting soaked!

We are very safe thrill seekers. We scout every rapid that we can't see down. We also set up saftey and run the most challenging rapids one at a time. See this picture: https://pasty.com/pcam/albut19/DCP_1563
In that picture you see Rob Pastel waiting with a throw bag just below a challenging spot in the rapid, and I'm below Rob taking the picture but also ready to assist in a rescue if need be. And sevearl of us have taken Swiftwater Rescue Courses (I'll take my 3rd this year)
Ironically I've been on the American River near Chilibar, CA which is east of Sacramento in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. While it was gorgeous, Upper Michigan has some of the finest rapids in the world, and some of the finest scenery.
